What Do You Do With 3 Elder Scrolls?

Post » Mon Oct 05, 2015 8:59 pm

I've completed the Main Quest (MQ) and Dawnguard. I now have 3 Elder Scrolls, reportedly "the most rare thing in Tamriel." I just delivered the 3 Falmer books to Urag and looked seriously at his offer for the Elder Scrolls.

Since they can not be taken out of our inventory, I'm thinking selling them may be the thing. But "selling" these artifacts seems like sacrilege!

What do you folks do with your "excess Elder Scrolls?"

I usually sell the Dragon scroll to the college, and give away the other two to Dexion.

Oh: There are 4 Falmer books, not 3.

It's true that selling them to Urag is a bit strange but it's the best thing to do. Unless you consider that making money with them is a sacrilege; in that case, if you are on pc, just sell them and them give the money back to Urag. Procedure:

- open the console,

- click on Urag,

- enter the command

openactorinventory 1

- once Urag's inventory is open, just transfer the money from yours to his.

Edit: and, yes, you can give them to Dexion, which would be the best thing to do.

I display the Four Translated Falmer Texts in My characters Library.

Most of My characters return the Scrolls, and spend too much time playing with the Inscribed Lexicon.

I would forget about them if I never went into my inventory ever again :)

Oh! I did not realize Dexion wanted them! This may be a solution :)

Yea, I missed one of them. Number 4 I think. No Matter as Urag only ever gives us 1000 gold no matter how many we have. Tried dropping them to give him them one at a time and can not.

Urag: "I'll give you 1000 EACH for them."

Dragonborn: "Deal!"

<1000 gold added>

And so on...

I always sell off the Elder Scrolls as soon as I'm done with DG, I really have no further use for them and the septims I get pay for spell books and stuff I normally wouldn't buy. Dexion pays $6000. for two of them and Urag pays $2000. for the other one so that cash buys a lot of spells. What I really want to get rid of is the seven Black Books from the DB and so far I've not seen any way to get rid of them.

Doesn't it seem odd that someone would pay as much as they would to buy a horse to acquire an Elder Scroll? There's something seriously wrong with the Skyrim Economic model.

Immersive College of Winterhold (PC MOD) does this.

I would definitely keep them... IF I COULD DROP THEM! But they are stuck in my inventory, making me scroll past them every time I go into my inventory.

I know, there mods and console commands that can fix this, but why does the game not handle this? Were we supposed to quit after defeating Alduin and then Lord Harkon? Fat chance!

I think that these Elder Scrolls being magical stuff, they should vanish from your inventory as soon as they have been used and the player no longer needs them. I might do a mod for that... one day.

That would definitely be in keeping with the theme of other TES artifacts, appearing throughout history and disappearing again when their use has been fulfilled (or after a certain amount of time).
