Constant Crashes!

Post » Thu Oct 08, 2015 1:05 am

I`m going to copy and paste what I sent to Bethesda so here it is:

Hi, I am having a problem where my Skyrim has been constantly crashing for different reasons. I`m going to number my story if you ever have a question about a specific part.
Here is the story:
1) I reset my computer back to Windows 7, it was running Windows 10 and I was having driver problems with all my games so I went back to Windows 7. I had Windows 7 before I got 10 and Skyrim was working fine.
2) Now, when I play the game. It runs perfectly fine at the launcher. So, I launched the game and it started crashing whenever I opened the map. It was only when I opened the map. Also, when it crashes, it reboots my entire PC. I noticed that only happened when I was toward the middle of the map because it didn`t crash sometimes when I was in the corners of the map. For example, it would crash if I opened the map and I went over to Whiterun but if I am in Solitude, it wouldn`t crash.
3) I tried some fixes by first, reinstalling the game. That didn`t work so then I verified the game cache. That didn`t work then I tried some of those Skyrim.ini things where people suggested adding/changing/removing lines. None of that worked so I completely reinstalled the game by deleting all the files. Also, I deleted all my mods at the start of part 1.
4) It has been very frustrating and I really want to get back into Skyrim. As I am writing this, my game crashed 15 minutes ago because I was testing it to see if it worked but then it crashed on the part of the introduction where the Stormcloak guy wanted you to jump in the inn from the stone tower. Could this be some kind of driver issue or something? My drivers are completely updated and my other games work perfectly fine. Can Bethseda please release like a bug fix or something?
5) Finally, that is my story on this matter. If I remember anything else I will post about it. If you have a question about anything in this then please ask me because I really want to fix this problem. Thank you and please reply soon.

Since the game worked fine in the past, it's caused by your computer not Bethesda. Likely from switching OS twice.
Post a DXDiag report.

Precisely why I made a separate partition for windows 10. Sorry you are having issues.

Can you explain the crash a bit more? IF it reboots your computer, it could be a blue screen.

That would indicate it likely has nothing to do with Skyrim.

Click the start menu and type "view advanced system settings" in the search textbox. Under startup and recovery click settings.

Make sure automatic restart is unchecked. Try to get the game to crash again. You should see the blue screen if that is the problem.

Write down as much info on that screen as you can.

I just did that right now and when it crashed, it still just rebooted and it didn`t show any blue screen. The only thing that pops up is that one normal Windows thing that says start Windows normally or those safe mode options. But it is a blue screen that is occurring because this pops up when my pc restarts and I am at the Desktop.

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1

This is interesting: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/3c8422ad-7d48-4398-90d0-d221517ea075/windows-bluescreen-error-bccode-124?forum=w7itprogeneral

It could be driver related. anolyzing the dmp file might help.

Do you play any other games?

Have you tried deleting the files where your save folder is?

C:\Users\Nathan\Documents\My Games\Skyrim

Try deleting renderinfo, SKyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini.

If you could zip the dmp file and upload it somewhere I can try taking a look at it. How big is it?

Download: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

...and check what files causing your problems. !!!

Hmm...this one: Bug Check Code: 0x00000124 indicates hardware problems. !!!

-----------

Also run this: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/65331-using-driver-verifier-identify-issues-drivers.html

------------

Ahh...i found it, took some time (sorry): http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/35349-stop-0x124-what-means-what-try.html%C2%A0), Go to the Registry tab and hit -
In the Options tab go to Monitoring and uncheck: Enable System Monitoring and Enable active Monitoring

Reboot your computer (Important)

STEP 2

Check your disk(s) after, with: sfc /scannow [ http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm ]

and chkdsk [ http://www.w7forums.com/threads/how-to-use-chkdsk-check-disk.448/ ]

(check this also: "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors")

STEP 3

Then install your game again, from scratch. !!!!

*** You don't need to uninstall Steam. ***

Ok, I've done all the steps but I will test it tomorrow. But, I have a question first, I have my steam installed on a second internal hard drive. That is where I installed skyrim. Do I just install it on that hard drive again or is that going to cause problems?

You could disable the automatic restart procedure after a BSOD and write down the error message and stop code.

Your could also check your event viewer after a BSOD.

How: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/help-troubleshoot-the-blue-screen-of-death-by-preventing-automatic-reboot/

------------

Do be sure it's not any background program that cause this, you could try first a clean boot !!!

http://support.turbine.com/link/portal/24001/24001/Article/88/How-do-I-perform-a-Clean-Boot-of-Windows

------------

Also i would make a memory check from within Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

------------

Also it could be possible that windows got damaged somehow, because the transition from W7 to W10 and then again to W7.

So consider to make, either way - a clean W7 installation, or a clean W10 installation.

W10 installation with this: http://wccftech.com/create-bootable-windows-10-dvd/

Write down your W7 cd key with this tool: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

You may need this after you install W10 clean from a bootable DVD (so no upgrade from W7 to W10) !!!

Thanks for the help but I'm probably just going to close this forum. I did some research and there is literally no fix for this map issue. The game doesn't crash anymore to other things or locations or visual stuff in the skyrim world. Now it only crashes when I open my map. I'm probably going to buy a new PC in the future anyways but thanks a lot for the help. If you do somehow know a fix for the map please let me know. Thank you guys anyway! :D

That's odd, because i don't have crashes opening the map. !!!

The only thing i can thing off is this:

[ScreenSplatter]
bBloodSplatterEnabled=0

Have you added this (for whatever reason) to your Skyrim.ini files ???
