Definition of new enchantment

I looked for a answer but couldn't find it.

I disenchanted a fortify carry ring that was 10% and it doesn't say the percentage on my list, I would like to disenchant a 30% fortify carry ring and use that enchantment with fire resist on some gloves , would this be considered a new enchantment?

Or once the enchantment is aquired you can't use a different version to dual enchant?

Thanks for your time.

The magnitude (power) of the enchant is determined by:

  • the potency of the soul you're going to use (petty, lesser, common, greater or grand)
  • your enchanting skill and the perks you've invested in
  • the fortify enchanting potion you've potentially consumed before beginning the process and finally
  • the buffs you're getting from specific quest rewards that fall under the spoilers category.

It's in no way determined by the item you disenchanted to learn the effect form.

As for the 2nd part of your question... do you want to stack 2x fortify carry weight effects on these gloves, or 1 carry weight & 1 fire resistance? The former is not allowed - the latter you can do.

And no -you can't disenchant what you've enchanted yourself, then use it to create quad enchants, if that's what you was after

Well, there are some enchantments out there that have two enchantments on them. Like any Mage Robes you find have two, example: Novice Robes of Destruction are enchanted with Fortify Destruction (Destruction spells cost 15% less) and Fortify Magicka Regen (Magicka regenerates 50% faster).

Thanks for the help , kinda still didn't answer my question though.

Ok I have fortify carry disenchanted from a ring, I did this before I knew what I was doing it was a 10% fortify carry ring , now I have a 30% fortify carry ring would these be considered 2 seperate enchantments so I can use the 30% with a resist fire enchantment to dual enchant a pair of gloves.

Or I can never dual enchant with fortify carry because it's not a 'new' enchantment?

Once again thank you very much.

It just doesn't seem right that you can't get the dual enchant perk until waaay later in the game presumably after you've disenchanted a bunch of abilities making it impossible to use that perk to dual enchant with those abilities.

I've already disenchanted a health absorb sword and a soul trap bow so I can't use these with other enchantments ever?

I apologize let me simplify, are 2 different objects with the same enchant but with different %'s of that enchant considered different enchantments?

Let me break the post down because you seem a bit confused here.

Disenchanting enables your character to learn the said effect and you can use it on any number of items you want, whenever you want. You learned it, it's yours forever.
Whenever you get the Extra Effect perk, you can simply combine two of the effects you already know on a single item -that is, IF the item can accept them. For example, you can't have fortify health & fortify stamina on a weapon -these are armor/apparel enchants.

Ofcourse you can.

They're not different enchants. It's the same enchant with different magnitudes.
