Why is bethesda's music not on Spotify.

Post » Fri Oct 09, 2015 10:16 am

I mean, the witcher 3 complete audio cd is on spotify, and is actually really popular.

However, exept for 2 songs from the best video game music cd's. None of the elder scrolls music is on spotify.

The only reason I can think off why its not on there, is licensing issues with Jeremy Soule. But I'm not really sure why that would be, as im sure you both like money.

Jeremy and Julian Soule have their own site, https://www.directsong.com/mobile/index.php?pageNum_menuRS=0&totalRows_menuRS=15&menuid=4.

Well, thats better than nothing. Thanks.

Still anyone know why they are not on spotify? I mean, this doesnt even show up in google searches. Surely they could spread their music to a wider audience via Spotify or something.

Probably because they cant agree on a deal but I think there is a conflict of interest. Bethesda is still very much Microsoft-oriented right now and Spotify currently has a deal with Sony that has to deal with the PS3 and PS4. Earlier this year Sony shut down their music service, Music Unlimited fka Qriocity, in favor of Playstation Music which is powered by Spotify. The app on PS4 right now is a Spotify app.

Because Spotify is now in place with Sony, if Bethesda only made their albums available on it, it would be a conflict since Bethesda still has a semi-exclusive partnership with Microsoft and wouldn't have a way of providing the same or better to the Xbox360/One. Essentially they aren't allowed to provide something to the Playstation that they can't offer up on Xbox. They would need to put their service on the Xbox and unfortunately they cant do that because they would in conflict with their deal with Sony.

Now this is only my opinion but I'm connecting some dots and making an educated guess.

I got the soundtracks of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim saved on my PC. I don't need spotify.

Hmm this idea makes sense. If it is the case then yet again, "exclusive" deals are detrimental to the average consumer.
Thanks for your answer.

Congratulations. This doesnt answer my question.
