Screen Tearing Problem - I am SICK OF This Game...

Post » Sat Oct 10, 2015 10:13 pm

Hi All

After some crash problems, I reinstalled the game but I have a new problem now which is screen tearing. I've started the game from the very beginning and now whenever I move the mouse, screen tears pretty bad. I made some research about it but nothing changed...

1. A guy says adding this to skyrim.ini "general" section works "iFPSClamp=60" . Nothing changed...

2. I enabled fps limiter at enblocal.ini (EnableFPSLimit=true), nothing changed

3. Tried this mod ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/2581/?), nothing changed.

4. I didn't change iPresentInterval=1 at skyrimprefs.ini, by default it was as this.

My installation and PC specs are in this title.... http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1538004-some-questions-about-reinstalling/. I don't want to mess up my installation and deal with constant crashes again so I opened this topic.

I request your suggestions to fix this problem.

Hey Atkara, you know my installation the best, what do you say? I know I occupied you a lot

I am seriously about to erase this god da.mn game and return to good old Oblivion. No game has ever troubled me as much as this one. I just want to relax and enjoy a little bit via kicking some asses in a game after a long work day. But instead, this game stresses me more with its endless problems... :stare:

Enable the FPS limiter in enblocal.ini and set max frames to 60.

Disable iPresentInterval to 0 (so: iPresentInterval=0) at your skyrimprefs.ini !!!

Also delete iFPSClamp=60 in your Skyrim.ini file.

At your CCC control panel set your graphical sliders to Application default or Auto dedect (or what ever Ati uses anyway) and make changes through your Skyrim options menu, if you want.

See if that helps.

--------OR

Also if you use ENBoost, Enable vsync in the enblocal.ini file for ENBoost

Don't use the FPS in enblocal.ini, as it can be buggy sometimes. !!!

Wait for Vertical Refresh: "unless application specifies" in your CCC contro panel

My fault sorry: Add iPresentInterval to the bottom of the [Display] section of the Skyrimprefs.ini file in the \Users\[Username]\My Documents\My Games\Skyrim directory

Try it with either 0 or 1. !!!

Also......(read above posts)...

Have you tried vanilla SKyrim first? You shouldn't be adding anything until you can play problem free for a good hour.

Modding Skyrim is an incremental process.

@Mark41

Ok I solved the problem via changing "EnableVSync=false" to true in ENGINE section of enblocal.ini. Also I changed "EnableFPSLimit=false" to true in LIMITER section. Now the tearings are no more.

Should I keep these changes or make them "false" again and apply your suggestions in order to prevent some possible future problems ???

@jasper

My Skyrim is almost vanilla. Just hi-res packs, unofficial patches and a water visibility mod.

Murat, you forgot to do http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1538004-some-questions-about-reinstalling/?p=24357954.

I believe I made sure I was crystal clear about vsync in the previous thread

It depends on the situation. if it's works, then leave it that way.

Just keep in mind: Limiting FPS is neither necessary nor recommended when vertical sync (vsync) is enabled under [ENGINE], since vsync limits FPS to the monitor refresh rate (or lower) anyway.

Also, some users have reported that enabling the limiter causes extremely low FPS, regardless of what the FPS Limit parameter is set to.

Other users have reported the ENBSeries FPS Limiter not working at all. If that's the case, your video card limiter in your GPU settings might be more stable. (Vsync)

Hmmmmm, you are right.....

1. I took out cell stabilizer

2. I kept ENB there.

3. I thought this article was only about the use of AA and AF but it also mentions fps limitation. I don't use AA and AF cause my pc is pretty old so I ignored this one. However it also doesn't say anything about the positive effect of fps limitation over screen tearing. Anyway, thanks again

Ok, I will reverse "EnableFPSLimit=true" to false in LIMITER section as Mark41 says it is unnecessary (at office now)

Thanks for the all answers.... :)

Screen tearing when vsync is off, is a widely known fact -didn't think I should've expanded on that. I thought you knew.

As for the fps limiter, I did mention it was up to you -but enough with these. It's time for you to enjoy your game :)

Yeah, now that you mention it, I remember reading something about vsync and screen tearing relation but I am not a hardcoe player so it just forgot it. Also I am over 30 now, so I can't spend time to PC games as much as my youth days, so lack of practice eats away tricks about gaming in my memory.

Another thing, when you try to learn this kind of a game and start topics on forums, people rain tons of new terms, programme names...etc on you, like they are very regular thing but they are not. It is not easy to understand and keep up with this new terminology and after reading a lot of messages about your problem, it is not easy to remember every detail.

Anyway, game runs smoothy for now, this is all that matters....

Greetings
