NPCs getting stuck?

Post » Wed Oct 14, 2015 7:45 pm

I've just started a new playthrough and with just a few hours in, am experiencing quite a few NPCs getting stuck. I got it quite badly with Camilla (I know she gets stuck quite often though), and then with several NPCs in Solitude and Riften. And even the necromancer outside Boulderfall Cave.

I have several mods active, but I'm pretty sure my last playthrough (which had the same mods) rarely had this issue.

Does anyone know why this happens? Should I restart with a new game?

Hmm, you can try the following commands:

Disable/Enable

Kill/Resurrect

ResetAI

-------------

For example:

Open Console - Click on the NPC in question - their code will show up. Commands in sequence (don't have to put the ID if object selected) 1. ResetAI 2. Disable 3. Enable

The character will show up at their default position.

Also opening the console, clicking on the NPC in question, and typing "resetAI". That should reset the NPC's AI and hopefully unstick her. !!!

And: If it doesn't work, try teleporting her to your location, to try to 'unstuck' her.

With Camilla still selected in the console (her RefID: 00013488) still showing up in the screen when you press ~ [if not, select her again]), type in moveto player.

even a *FUS RO DAH !!! can help sometimes...

*(aka Unrelenting Force)

Thanks very much for your reply. I do use the disable/enable console command when needed, usually on the occasional NPC. Unfortunately my current problem involves a number of NPCs, for example 5-6 people in Riften, and while I wouldn't mind using the console for that, it does happen often enough that I would prefer a permanent solution.

I've googled but no one seems to know why it happens. I guess it's just one of those things in Skyrim :)
