I have some questions about Brand-Shei, be glad if you help me

Afaik, plotting against him is the only way to join Thieves Guild but I feel like a total [censored] when I do that. I feel really really sorry for him (Yea, I know it's just a game but you know )

So, the questions are;

1- Is plotting against him is the only way to join Thieves Guild?

2- If he goes to jail because of me is there any way to release him from the jail?

No way to release him from jail without a mod, but you can just

you still get in to the thieves guild. That's what I usually do because I hate losing vendors.

If you don't want to get Brand-Shei in trouble (I hate doing that, too) you can always fail the quest - either by getting caught or simply by leaving the marketplace (enter any building or leave Riften). Brynjolf will grumble at you when he next sees you, but he has a good feeling about you or something, so you can still join

Don't know why but Brand-Shei sounds very good person and I feel terrible when I do that mission and you guys just saved the day
