Quick question. I have about forty modifications installed (I do not use Mod Organizer) and I never get CTD's. I have been playing for over a week. Why don't I get any? Do they eventually start as I play longer? Am I just lucky? I carelessly uninstall mods and I don't do it properly (as a test save) and nothing. Clues?

Be happy about that. Not everyone get CTDs on a modded skyrim.

Obviously your mods are compatible each other, load order is correct, so there is nothing to CTD. !!!

I do not get CTDs either. (however i use much less mods as you)

Although "carelessly un-installing" mods you would think would be a recipe for disaster, it all depends on what type of mods you have uninstalled, if its just texture / mesh / sound replacers those would be no problem to uninstall, but if any Ref-IDs are now missing or any of the other possible problems http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/3676-skyrim-information-baked-into-saves are just waiting to pounce when conditions are right.

You may have papyrus errors and scripts misfiring too which you may not be aware of. There can be a heap of stuff going wrong which do not actually trigger a CTD, events not happening that you may not even be aware of, or long term domino effect of things going wrong, I cant imagine anyone getting away with bad modding practices for too long and remain totally unscathed, logically if things are missing from an ongoing game then all is not well with your setup. But starting a new game would not be a problem.

You're doing it wrong.

In my recent 70+ hours playtime, I've only had one.

It does freeze up from time to time. Though as long as I pay attention, I can play in 2-3 hour chunks, exit, and just restart before it does that. This way, I can play without having to hard restart my computer. Therefore, mostly stable.

I finished the main quest and Dawnguard with only 2 CTDs. !!! (186 hours)

The first one was related to a follower (so i dismissed her, and took her back after i finished that particular quest)...

...and the second one was related to skyrim engine. (so related to the game itself). "Fixed" it, waiting for a couple of hours on a different location and then travelling back.

Also to notice: 5 or 6 finished but not deleted quests from my quest inventory, all Unofficial patches installed.

I find Skyrim pretty stable actually...

I don't see why I should be given the lucky charm. I want to learn from mistakes. I want freezes, crashes. Weird, I know. Sure, I get crashes during Bethesda Logo, but other than that I don't receive any negative effects. I'm relatively knew to modding Bethesda Games - and I don't use any program such as MO or TES V EDIT.

Just find it unusual that my game is stable with me just spamming and installing mods that I find.

Carry on spamming and and installing mods as you say and you'll get your wish soon enough. No need to worry about that.

Then I can figure out what I am doing wrong and learn by reading instructions and not suffering later when I do a serious play through. I am most likely careless at the moment because my computer is a toaster. Running windowed mode, lowest resolution and screen size with everything else on low or off.

Not only the mod, but read the articles too ( and a bit of the description may help ). You might be able to raise the res a bit using that. It was designed for my old laptop which only just met the bare minimum specifications for Skyrim, and the graphics card was below min spec at only 256mb VRAM ( 512 is minimum )

I ran Skyrim on that machine from 11.11.11 up until about a month ago ( although I had upgraded the VRAM to 512 about half way through that period )

Now I have a new laptop.

Thanks for the link, but I don't see a purpose in playing a game with such low quality. (Graphics are a concern for me). I will be receiving a 750 Ti soon, so that will make the experience undoubtedly better. Not much I can do on a HD 4350.

Opinion on the most realistic ENB Preset? I can imagine that 'realistic' is subjective but I was tyring to find one that looked closely to real - life. So far Project (Realistic) and TK ENB Realistic Edition seem great, but I prefer to see more before I decide.
