One Life thoughts?

Post » Thu Oct 22, 2015 10:08 am

So... What are your thoughts on this new http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=534994203 game that is attempting to get green-light on Steam? I have a feeling that this game is going to fail hardcoe simply because of that one specific mechanic (even if the game itself is amazing). In my opinion, it's a recipe for death and that this game is like an actor who will kill himself the moment he gets on stage.

I would never play something like that. I'd rather eat $10 worth of Taco Bell and take my chances.

Thats a bit extreme eating the taco bell that is. I completely agree.

To the best of my knowledge it seems most idiots on the net have a ton of money to spend, And take great pride in making games unenjoyable for others. I really do not see this lasting a month after the first organised gang puts it into a kill zone lockdown.

Give me a dozens Tacos and watch them vanish :D.

Okay so basically if you die once in this game that's it you don't get to play again, you don't get to pass go and collect $200.00, there's no gold at the end of the rainbow. Seems like a waste of money.

This kind of reminds me of an arcade machine if you think about it.

With that said, maybe there's some merit it making the game dirty cheap and selling the ability to start a new game for a dollar or something.

If their entire playerbase is being kicked out of their game, they're making a game for nobody. And if their playerbase is not being kicked out of the game, it would seem as if the mechanic has failed, right?

I have to agree here. As a player who adores alternate characters and game longevity, perma-death is not high on my list of "fun times."

I'll pass on this one, though I am sure there are enough players that would eat this up. I bet this game makes their Green Light bid

I guess it's neat as an avant garde experiment. But yeah, the economics don't really add up.

I wouldn't buy it, it's clearly a niche market, and once those who do have an interest in it die, the game is pretty much dead.

As I said on their page:

"
A.) It's the perfect game for the 'hardcoe' crowd of gamers who want to test how tough they truly are and it's not a scam or 'misleading' because it says exactly on the tin that 'One life or you're done'.

B.) Now on to the concerns. Practically, this game would likely flop because, let's face it, a lot of gamers are entitled little twerps who demand refunds when they lose or they will try to get this game downvoted and written off as a scam. And what's worse: A game like this would be a haven of modder and hacker scumbags who would use invincibility mods to dominate the game. With such a harsh reality of what the multiplayer community would be like I think the 'one life' thing should extend to your save data. Level 55 with super cool armour and that really awesome AK? Just got gunned down by a gang of roaming players? Wiped back to Level 0-1 with a starter kit. I know this weakens the 'one life' principle of the design, but given the scummy potential of players, this offers a very minor form of an anti-frustration feature so you didn't blow $10 just to die in your first 3 minutes and blow all of your money. I like the game's theoretical design, but practically there's so much room for abuse."

this the most generic looking shooter game I have ever seen and if you die once you cant play it ever again? Its like the developers are saying dont buy this game. How much you wanna bet they'll add microtransactions to give you a pass to try the game again so everytime you sie you need to pay them to play again. I cant see them making money with the one life andis if you die dont come back system.

You could play again on a new Steam account and if you buy it again... This game might just succeed due to idiots doing that constantly. (No offense to them).

I like Taco Bell honestly. My favorite Fast Food place actually.

You die and... you won't be able to play this game again? WT*? We don't have Taco Bells easily here in BR, but, yeah, I rather pick 20 BR Currency and hunt for it in Town Center.
