stuck in wagon at beginning

Hello- I just played 1 character to level 40 or so then another to 68, I installed the 1.9 update so I could get Hearthfire and that was around level 50 of the second character, im thinking that its the update but after reading numerous stuff from years ago with the exact same problem I've noticed more than 1 person said that it happened before AND after 1.9.

This os the first character after the download and both times before it didn't happen but since the update theres been lots of glitches and just recently its been freezing a lot whereas the first character never froze once.

Should I uninstall the update? I watched a YouTube vid that shows how to do it so I guess that it's possible but if I do I can't play hearthfire or the other two add ons correct? I would like to keep this character and start another also be able to install the add ons but is this possible?

If not the only thing I can figure is killing this character by going back to save #1 which theoretically would let me start a new character but then id probably still have all the glitches so its almost not worth it.

I don't remember ever getting stuck in the opening scene with 1.9.

PC, Xbox or PS3?

The platform you are playing on is important. I play on PC, and have had problems with the carriage rolling over, losing Lokir (who would get run over and die, prematurely). This is typically caused by all the scripts running to start the game, plus those from mods starting at the same time. On PC this can be fixed by using an Alternate Start mod, or by activating mods after Helgen. If you are a console player, then I hope someone else can help you out.

Xbox and I just read multiple posts on maybe 4 different sites starting from 2012 and they had the exact same problem on all 3 systems of course this was before 1.9 but there was also 3 people that said that they had it after 1.9.

For me it seems obvious although I really don't know anything about this stuff because the first character made it to level 40 something eith not one glitch and the second I think it may have froze once or twice then after ive seen the flying horse guy going backwards, I've gotten wedged into places like in the mountains 3 time twice I went back to a previous save to get out and NPC's have gotten stuck maybe 3 times and last but definitely not least I've had a invisible wall catching my arrows and holding them in stasis until I stood up out of crouch... oh yeah and I got stuck on that ship where it just sat there.

Ive had other stuff happen but I think that was because I was doing quests out of order, that glowing jem that im supposed to guide through the temple?well that chick never unlocked the doors but this one dude said that he came back later and she unlocked them so that's probably it.

I haven't completed much of the questlines im just kiling stuff grinding and gathering loot.

Thanks for any help im waiting to figure out what to do.

I do have the old xbox 360 but people with later models have had the same problem.

So far they've supposed that its the disc, model Xbox, or scripting not being compatible but this was back in 2013 that people with all 3 platforms were having the exact same problem.

This one guy said that he cleared his Xbox of all other data and his color rendering (whatever that is) cleared up and his game ran perfect.

Im thinkinh of trying this but it'll take all night to transfer all my games to a external storage because I don't have cloud service so im hoping that someone knows what to do.

I've been always on PC so, I can't be of much help. People who do have X360s however, often reported that clearing the cache has helped which, from what I understand, has nothing to do with deleting everything from your device.

For more details on that, you'll have to wait for an X360 user :)

I know it's not positive help.....but I have never had these problems on the 360 and I have all the patches and DLC......so I guess I'm saying it SHOULD work and it CAN work. Meaning something hasn't taken properly in your patching.

I know it's a pain, but my advice is clear the lot....all of it.....do a day one restart like a fresh machine. Install all patches first then load in the DLC. Absolutely ensure no power losses or voltage spikes during the loading (use a surge protected power socket). Never move the machine when it's running.

Good luck.....let us know if that works :)

Unfortunately I think Rick is right, somewhere while you downloaded the patches something got corrupted and everything needs to be reset. You could ask a Mod to move this to the 360 thread, but really unless someone can think of a different issue that might be causing the problem, then it's just a corrupted file and it needs to be deleted and that means a total reboot of the game.. and making sure the cashe and all Skyrim files are deleted also.

And this is the hardest part... all save files also. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I am sure that any corruption would go across to an older save game and then end up right back in a "new save".

I play on a PS3 so I am not familiar with the X-Box data trees but on the Playstation you have the option to delete all game data without losing the rest of your games. If it is possible,I would delete all the Skyrim "game data" and all the saves, clear the cache and then reload the game, start it once without doing a character creation, shut down, then start up and let it update with 1.9 then add your DLC before starting a new character.I don't know if this will work on the X-B but it solved all the problems I had on PS3 with freezing and such. Good luck with your outcome on this.
