Post » Mon Nov 09, 2015 6:07 am

Hey, bros I'm trying to open 2 creation kits.

Here's the weird part.................

in my SkyrimEditor.ini

my bAllowMultipleEdtors is already set to 1,

and I still cant load multiples.... not kidding bros. I remember this did work years ago, but suddenly its not. i use windows 7 and im right clicking on the creation kit icon in the taskbar to reopen the same program.

Please help me. It's cold in here.... and I'm scared.

Argh ... I almost always had two kits open at a time. One with my test mod, and the other with only Skyrim.esm loaded to look things up, see how they work and where things are hidden, so I can keep my own esp clean.

Give this option of multiple instances of the CK back to us!

Please!

The problem is on Steam side; when it detects that the ck is running it just doesn't lanch a new one.

Ha ha! Found a work around! In your face Steam! :P

First, open the SkyrimEditor.ini you'll find in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim, and, if it's not already there, add the following line to the [General] section:

bAllowMultipleEditors=1

Then:

1) launch the ck,

2) once the ck is fully launched (no need to load a plugin), open the Windows task manager (C:\Windows\System32\taskmgr.exe), go to the "process" tab,

3) locate "Steam.exe *32", select it, and click on the button "End Process" at the bottom right of the window, or right click on Steam.exe *32 and select "End Process" in the menu, or punch the e key. Steam will close but the ck will remain open.

4) launch the ck again. On opening, Steam won't notice that there is already an instance of the ck running and here you go!

:)

It works. Try again.

All right, something I had forgotten about the task manager: it has two "looks", simple and normal. So, if your task manager looks like that: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2GqXECyXog0/T1dJHkCItYI/AAAAAAAAAOo/Jy7d7zh5_JE/s640/Task+Manager.jpg, click on the "Details" tab, so that it looks like that: http://tesalliance.org/forums/uploads/monthly_2015_11/Capture.thumb.JPG.b959ed3e3be9a4704eacc32216b3dbdd.JPG

For what it is worth : I just opened to CKs via Mod Organizer without any additional steps. Just two clicks of 'Run'. Last Installed Skyrim on Friday, so should have the latest update... So, looks like that method still works?

(Unrelated, did the new update roll-back the 'Scripts.rar' change? Or is something weird at my end?)

Not everybody uses Mod Organiser. What is that "Scripts.rar" change you're talking about?

Hence the 'for what it is worth', haha :)

When I reinstalled, Scripts.rar no longer existed, and the Scripts are pre-unpacked into the Scripts/Source folder, they way they used to be; hence my thinking it was a skyrim/CK change.
