Magma Dragon's Shout

Post » Mon Nov 09, 2015 7:12 am

I ran into my first-ever magma dragon yesterday, and it raised some questions in my mind. The dragon's attack was primarily a kind of "Storm Call" shout that showed up in my effects as "storm call fire+10" which I don't really understand at all.

You know the rocks falling from the whirlpool sky in Helgen when Alduin first shows up? Well, this is the same, except that the rocks are on fire and burn like firebolts. I'd never encountered that before, so I was wondering if this is a vanilla shout that exists somewhere, or if it is the result of a mod? Has anyone encountered a dragon with this shout in vanilla?

What? Do I have a video? Well, as it happens, I have one https://youtu.be/lbOIJ5F2TEQ in my pocket.

Deadly Dragons.... 1st Dragon Adain ran into right outside of Rorikstead. Or it's a slight possibility Dragons don't Wait.. but I think D.D. All this time with D.D. and you never ran into this dragon before? Dang am I unlucky or what?!! or is that lucky?

It looks a lot like Alduin's "Dragon Storm Call", or Meteor Storm as I've come to call it. The falling rocks are on fire and they do cause fire damage on both npcs and the player. It must be the same shout.

When you get tired of rocks falling on your head, use Clear Skies -if you have it :)

Yeah, I thought of that, and used my storm call shout. Unfortunately, it sees dragons can shout a lot more often than I can... even with an amulet of Talos! I didn't try clear skies though, but I have to presume the dang dragon would simply renew his shout again.

Remembering to visit the nearest Talos shrine, will help on that.

Judging from Alduin's shout cooldown, Clear Skies is on a similar timer. If the same holds for deadly dragons, nothing stops you from negating 'meteor storm', as many times as needed.
