The title says it all, I'm curious to see what the larger perception of this dialogue system is among the Bethesda fanbase.

We already have a thread about this going in the general Elder Scrolls forum, and this has nothing to do with Skyrim.
No! I want an improved dialogue but not in this simple way. I want longer dialogue lines, and more importantly, more options in dialogue, to accomodate more RP choices. Disposition modifiers by dialogue should make a return, although I'm not a fan of Oblivion's minigame either.
Bethesda has only ever used Speech for skill checks anyway, and it was either make Attributes more important and make Skills Irrelevant, or make Skills more important and make Attributes irrelevant. TES went one way, Fallout went the other... And frankly, i think Fallout's overall approach is a solid one.
Anyway... The dialogue system in Fallout is... Unexpected. Its much better than i was expecting, though not as good as i think it could be. It feels sort of like a 'proof of concept' rather than a fully developed system. Better mechanically than what we've had before, but not fleshed out enough. Expanding it so the initial 4 choices open up options of their own (sort of an expanding menu) would be an immeasurable improvement, as would making it less topical and more phrases.
So yeah, i think i would like it, under the caveat that it be expanded upon. As it stands, it's too bare-bones to really translate well, and would be worse than the sloppy system we have... But filled out a little i think it would be a vast improvement over anything we've had in TES.
And i know i'm going to be in the minority about this... But i also supported getting rid of Attributes and Classes in TES (as they were, the system was useless and directly hurt other systems) and seem to be more open to new ideas than some...
I think voiced protagonists are suited to the linear, story-driven games Bioware makes, to roleplaying games with fixed protagonists like The Witcher series and to first-person shooters. But I think voiced protagonists are philosophically at odds with the non-linear, free-form, be-who-you-want-to-be, go-where-you-want-to-go game design that has always been the heart and soul of the Elder Scrolls series.
The dialogue system would be fine, if it wasn't voiced and there were more or better options. I like the ability to walk away and they still keep talking and that sort of thing. That would be interessting, but it would need some other fixes to work out.
