The end of the reveal for Fallout 4, the protagonist says to the dog, "Let's go pal".
There used to be a dog food called "Pal", you know, meat for dogs ... Dogmeat.

Somebody mentioned that dog may be the protagonist's from pre-war times when he was still a baby, hence the dog searching the house/crib,etc.
If so, that would be an awfully old dog, considering the protagonist looks to be at least mid-20's at their "reunion?" at the end of the video. Maybe the two events are just unrelated, or related in a way we couldn't guess yet. Or maybe that is just a really old dog. Hmm...
But I killed Dogmeat back in DC. How can he still be alive?! D:
Still, it'll be cool if the dog stayed at home while the PC goes out to explore the world.
Dogmeat is a recurrent character in the Fallout games, he first appeared in Fallout 1, on the west coast. Technically Dogmeat from Fallout and Fallout 3 are not the same dogs, and it probably won't be the same in Fallout 3 and 4.

Yeah, I'd hope there would be an option to name the dog. I'd name it bunny, or cat.. or hedgehog. I want to be able to give the dog a complex.
