FYI to Potential Mod Users - TESVsnip Mods on the Nexus

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 5:36 pm

It was discovered while I was helping AOS author and other people helping, to show them how to do BAINs plus Wizard scripting for a multi-installer which also had NMM / MO scripting for AOS 2, I got to try out some of the ongoing work while showing them how to bring it all together in one archive.

I just had a good read back on a few PM threads on nexus, and I think the guilty person was a fourth party who was helping third party and passing edited versions of your plugins between each other .. Third party pointed out the signature problems to fourth party - And I assumed it was from an original of yours. Now I am pretty certain fourth party was the one who used Snip ..

I should have got that straight before posting here, again I offer my sincere apologies

The description for Homemaker explicitly credits TESVSnip!

I think I will not use any esp mods until sometime after the official tool is released even then I might not.

You'd miss out on the vast majority of excellent mods if you never use any .esp based mods :)

I'd just advise caution. Make a savegame you can go back to before installing any mod (that's always a good idea) and until the Creation Kit is released;

  • always read the comments on a mod,
  • avoid any .esp based mods unless you really can't bear to be without what they offer,
  • be emotionally prepared to start a new character or go back to a save before you tried an .esp based mod.

Once the Creation Kit is out... well, pretty much the same advice applies, just with much less risk of having to discard a character.

And many .esp mods can really be exceptionally good.

I do that for any mod. I usually like to wait until a mod has been out for some time. I have a habit of always starting a new game with the mods unless the mod states you have to have done a so called quest first or whatever. When updating a mod or removing mods I delete all game saves and start from scratch. I usually even do this when an Official patch is released for a game with no mods. I prefer starting from scratch, besides I love starting new characters.

To me mods are only a bonus and not needed for any game.
