What do you want improving from past games?

I'd like to see both a karma system and faction system like New Vegas. Means I can be a good person siding with the Legion or bad person siding with the NCR.

Also, better and more customisable player homes.

And please don't remove third person.

Sea and fluid animation ... So proper wavy seas.
Vehicle animations , so carts , boats , vehicles
Surface deformation , destruction and tessellation so for example sinking in snow and leaving a trail like in assassin creed or shooting against a metal plate nd deforming it or chopping down a tree or blowing up a wall etc.
Better shading and subsurface scattering for the creatures and people.
Larger environments that do not look like 4 houses = city .
Better useof lod systems with automated creation of them.
Larger larger worlds.
Interactive items , all of them from the single fork or spoon up .
Better AI and npc interactions.
Multy tree event quests.
Piecemental armors with asymetric possibilities
Return of the gdr stats and a more selective path route in careers , so to be able to replY the game with a different type of character.
More realistic lightning and environments
Better animation and a system like Euphoria for ragdoll physics.

More populated towns/settlements.
See my feet when I look down in first person.
VATS kicks you out when the target moves behind cover.
Be able to use cover properly/effectively, crouch, lean out etc.
Similar amount (or better) of weapons and mods as NewVegas.
Better companion back story and interaction.
Armour modding and/or crafting.
Ammo creation, like in New Vegas.

More choices that are morally grey and have more impact.

Morally grey factions with their own unique branching paths

No 'chosen one' special snowflake nonsense

Dark and twisted atmosphere with that classic dark humor. I want atmosphere like that of Fallout 1

The only improvement I can think of at the moment is more variation in voice acting. Hearing the same voice over and over gets old quick.

That entirely depends on mod makers though, if you mean load order restraints then that's also a hard demand to meet because the game can only handle so much memory.

They're more complex then what most games have is the thing. Most games NPCs the most interaction you have is bumping into them or killing them, in bethesda games the NPCs have a larger role and aren't always randomly generated. Not to mention Bethesda games aren't just a lot of NPCs being a problem. You have enemies, almost every common item isn't static and can be moved, large range of usable items like healing, weapons and armor, you have large arrays of quests, you have scripts that are set up differently then most other games, you have NPCs having schedules and routes they take. There are numerous more factors that take up just the same amount of data space.

Improved Gunplay, shouldn't be forced to use VATS because there's no Ironsight option (Fallout 3 comes to mind).

Bugs is an obvious one, with it being current gen only, might be hopeful that bugs are down. Witcher 3 though had some issues, so I have my fingers crossed that Fallout 4 has minimal issues.

No HP Sponges for enemies.

More Grey Stuff.
