More NPCsCreatures Onscreen?

Did anyone else notice halfway through the trailer when it showed the ferals, there were like 10 of them attacking the player at a time? Fallout 3 had some pretty intense areas with ferals but in the trailer this took place in a small shopping center that reminded me of the super duper mart. I wonder if this is just one of the scenes with the most enemies or if we can expect more characters on a screen at a time?

Other evidence would be in the village area where it actually appeared populated, not like silly megaton which was a rather large establishment for only a few NPCs. (New Vegas was the worst). I also wonder if this means we'll be seeing open cities from the start or it'll have to be modded in again.

What are your thoughts? Can the new engine hold more entities on screen?

since they set the minimum bar higher by focusing on only releasing it on current gen consoles and PC i would assume (and hope) the extra grunt they have to work with will result in more crowded places and overall bigger world.

Hmm, assassins creed said the same thing and that's how they ended up with more characters onscreen.

I know skyrim could handle hundreds of NPCs onscreen at a time. They would fight pretty well too, so I would assume the only issue is console limitations which have been up'd so thats good news. Fighting ferals just sounds like so much more fun with a seemingly endless supply of them.

The ferals must have been nerfed very much since the last game because if 10 ghouls were charging you in New Vegas, you'd be backing the hell up.

Depends on the feral. Early game ferals were a piece of cake but late game, I'd have to argue Fallout 3 + broken steel was godawful. They introduced those reavers that took a million shots to put down.

Also, bethesda's engine allows leveled creatures to spawn based on their difficulty. So, they can do something like add 10 easy feral spawns and 1 boss feral spawn. If the player was low leveled they might see a glowing one and 10 regular ferals.
