Weapon overheating

So what you guys think of having weapon overheating in Fallout 4?

I've recently been playing a heavily modded Fallout 3 with the JIP Realistic Weapon Overheating mod, and I feel it adds a lot to the combat and tactics while playing. Instead of just spraying and praying with automatic weapons or weapons that would realistically create a lot of heat I need to control my fire rate and accuracy. An overheated weapon could have a chance of jamming, misfiring, or even breaking the hotter it gets and the longer it stays overheated. On the other hand, while emptying your entire assault rifle clip into an enemy would severely overheat your weapon it could also mean difference between life and death. This adds a interesting split-second choice between risking your weapon jamming or breaking and surviving a firefight.

Maybe as an optional thing in hardcoe mode. Overheating would make more sense only on miniguns and other machine guns, light and heavy. But in my honest opinion I could see this getting really annoying.

It would make the Minigun pretty useless wouldn't it?

I'm hoping guns overheat as well as break and jam in Fallout 4.

Guns should overheat after lets say 100 shots if it's mini gun type guns. Energy gun types should overheat a little bit quicker if you shoot multiple times. Handguns and rifles should overheat after about a certain amount. The guns should break and jam in the same way.

Yeah, it's only an issue on machineguns and the like. It's virtually impossible to fire a semi-auto weapon at a rate such that barrel heat would ever reach the point where rounds started cooking off on their own.

Energy weapons, I can see that, sure. Machineguns, yes. Anything else, heat isn't a factor in except in a "hey, don't touch the barrel, dummy" way.

This. I'd rather they left machine guns alone, even though it is realistic. But that might just be because I rarely use EWs.
