What if Vertibirds and or Airships are used as a fast travel system like Morrowind's Silt Strider or Skyrim's carriages?

If so I would want them to be on infrequent schedules with limited route destinations and there be no other in game fast travel. Also Vertibird and Airship fast travel wouldn't be available till a substantial amount of progress has been made in game.

No, I want to blow up the airship. The vertibird can still be a choice.

I would like to actually fly the vertibird but if that doesn't happen, XRE has me covered.

I'd prefer it over the current fast travel.

Edit: The current fast travel is often confused as teleporting. This would at least dispel this belief
