Any news if Xbox will get first dibs again?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 4:10 pm

I was wondering if there's any news about if Microsoft gets first dibs as far as patches and dlcs with fallout 4? Reason why I am asking is because I can still remember the ordeal of how skyrim was handled with news and content and patches coming out for Xbox users first with PC and PS3 players not getting any info and waiting 30 days on up for content and sometimes longer. If I recall there were times that the info of when something was gonna be released for PC users was the day before or that very day. Also about how Xbox users will only get the first dlc first before everyone else and instead got every dlc first at a minimum of a month before everybody else.
If Microsoft does pay for first dibs, that's okay I understand money talks and while I may gripe I will understand. I do hope that Bethesda on the other hand has learned from those mistakes and hopefully will be more vocal in giving out info instead of the silent treatment to whatever platforms that don't get first dibs.

Nothing has been said about DLC being timed exclusive, though it all depends on how much money Microsoft throws around.

Patches never were times exclusive though.

Hope not, that was a really scummy move by Bethesda, i first played Skyrim on Xbox and even i thought it was disgusting.

Exclusives shouldn't exist at all unless for technical reasons.

I kinda figured. I can understand the idea of getting more money for first dibs, but I don't like and won't support major content being locked to certain platforms (except mods due to neither Sony nor Microsoft wanted them on the consoles) nor the silent treatment. Giving us info such as "it is coming to ur platform" goes along way to keeping customers appeased than radio silence.
I know they wasn't time exclusive but I recall Xbox users getting patches first like the one where u could attack from horseback etc.

Usually the PC gets patches first since on the consoles the patches have to be certified.

We'll probably find out at E3. If Fallout 4 also shows up at the Microsoft conference (and not Sony's) in addition to Bethesda's own conference, and if the trailers feature the Xbox One logo clip but not the PS4's, it wouldn't surprised me if Microsoft has struck a deal with Bethesda again.

It normally don't bother me. I usally wait on DLC anyway to see others thoughts on it or watch a little bit on youtube to see if it's worth it. If it's a patch then yes I hate it but not DLC.

I hope to god not. I'm purchasing for Xbox One, but I just think it's incredibly unprofessional for a company to even consider it. It's literally like slapping your other fans across the cheek IMO.

Microsoft will use any tactic in the book to prop up their glorified VHS player. I'm still mad at the stunt they pulled with the new Tomb Raider.

So I'd expect the worst. Doesn't bother me that much as a PC player, but it's still a scummy thing to do on the part of Microsoft and any developer who takes the deal. Unless the console manufacturer is actually sponsoring development from the ground up, it's essentially the developer saying "we took a bribe to delay content for everyone else".

To be fair Sony did the same with Street Fighter. And it looks like two erasers on top of each other(I love my PS4 but it does).

I'd be more concerned about the power gap that PS4 has over the Xbox One, hopefully the Xbox One won't have issues like the PS3 had when you compared it to the 360. Since both consoles are mid to High AMD PC's I'm not that concerned about bugs.

In terms of exclusivity, that's probably a yes since it's Micro$oft.

Perhaps, but isn't it Microsoft under new leadership? I mean, they made Netflix (and various other services) accessible for xbox silver members.

The PC masterrace gets patched first in most games as the turnaround time is much faster.

I hope not. I might play on 360/Xb One and PC, but for example how Skyrim's DLC was handled for PS3 really bugged me. I hope Bethesda resists the allure of Microsoft money and releases DLC at the same time for all 3 platforms, or at least within the same week.

It better not happen. What was done with the upcoming Tomb Raider was sad and ridiculous. I don't want the same thing to happen to Fallout 4.

PC first then the boxes.
One of the reasons I am waiting to buy. It makes me angry to wait monthes for a needed patch the xbox already has.
