Everything I want to build appears in the air

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:06 am

Everything I try and build shows up three foot in the air and unable to be built. I managed to build beds by placing a large prefab shack and walking halfway up the stairs allowing me to build the beds on the top floor. I can't build anything on the bottom floor at all. My next mission is to build a water pump but it is simply impossible. I have tried building in a different settlement but still the same problem. I've tried a new character and still the same problem. My brother has his own Xbox one and does not have this problem. This is really affecting my game play and annoying the crap out of me. I tried contacting Bethesda about it and they gave me the most useless feedback in the history of gaming, can anyone help?

I have the same issue as do some others. As you stated creating a new character does not fix the issue. Someone claimed that a fresh install fixed the issue. Another claimed to not use workbench until asked to in Sanctuary (didn't help me on my 2nd attempt). Wish I could be more helpful but I can't play again.

You might keep an eye on a thread over at www. gamefaqs. com/boards/164593-fallout-4/72789748

Sorry about the spaces but I cannot post links yet.

Same here. So frustrating. Tried to get my screenshot on here, but couldn't figure it out. Haven't tried the fresh install. Will do that if I don't see any better ideas.

Hi there

We're continuing to investigate this issue. Possible to take a few minutes to answer these questions?

  • Does a reboot and reload of the save fix this?
  • Is this specific to Sanctuary? Can you build at other workshops, such as Red Rocket (where you meet Dogmeat).
  • Have you done any custom key bindings on the controller – remapped any controls?
  • Do you have any other peripherals (extra HDD, Guitars, etc) plugged into your Xbox One?
  • Is this issues specific to you building a certain items (i.e. are you able to build some stuff and not other stuff)?

  • I didn't reboot, but exiting to menu and continuing didn't fix it. I can try a reboot when I get to the xbox.
  • I tried it with Murphy's chair at Tenpines and it would not let me build.
  • No custom bindings. Stock controller.
  • Just the Kinect.
  • Tried with the beds, sleeping bag, Murphy's chair, and a water pump. Tried also roof panels, and got one to place, but I'm not sure if more should place, or if the roof area itself had all it could take.
  • VERY grateful for the response and Bethesda's work on this. Going to try a clean game file install later, unless you want me to play guinea pig for troubleshooting. :)

Fresh install did fix this for me. Was even able to use old saves.

On a side note to this, is there going to be a fix for orienting any objects like a fence or outside object with the actual ground itself? I built a fence entirely around Sanctuary, and a lot of the panel on the hill are either floating a few feet above the ground or built into the ground.
