Supply lines

I just picked the local leader perk and I'm trying to set up supply lines but I'm not sure it's working.

I got 3 settlements - Sanctuary Hill, Covenant and Red Rocket Truck Stop.

I connected them by ordering 1 settler from Covenant to Sanctuary Hill and one settler from sanctuary hill to Red Rocket Truck Stop. So, should this make all three connected and is the items actually displayed in the workshop transfer inventory? Because when all of them was connected I checked one resource (100 something pre-war money) in Red Rocket and travelled to Covenant to check and it had none (no pre-war money) in the inventory. I'm confused. Shouldn't it be enough that I connect convenant with sanctuary hill and sanctuary hill to red rocket to make resources available in all 3 settlements?

Well, did another test. Seems as if they are connected but all the items doesn't actrually show up in the inventory, but are connected when you build something. So for an example I only had 22 wood in Covenant but when I was going to build something it showed up as I had 400 wood. In all settlements it showed I had 400 wood but another amount when looking in the actualy inventory. Rather good so you can't "cheat" by having your equipment like guns and armour shared between all settlements but only the necessart resources. Which make sense, it's your supply routes not your personal shipping service.
