I don't know. Do you have Win7 64bit? requires 64bit OS to play.

In the past - other people reported this same problem with battlefield 4 and Dead rising:

https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/773318/pc-games/dead-rising-3-random-crashes-/1/

Solution there was to load an older NVidia driver.

I had that problem too. I tried starting the game from its folder, then it said some files were missing. I downloaded those and put them in the game folder, the game can run now, but ingame and menu sounds seems not to.

I have the same issue, I am able to open the game launcher, but when I press play the game goes to a full black screen with a loading mouse icon.

I don't understand because I am able to play the game fine in windowed mode.

Game loads up "Please Stand By" screen and then Crashes to Desktop everytime for me.

Updated my drivers, restarted, etc. (I am AMD, not NVidia)

Forum won't let me paste my dxdiag, but system good enough to run at ultra (and tried turning settings down)

Edit: Tried windowed mode, does not work.

Tried beta install of FO4, does not work. Same problem.

I'm having the same problem. I hope this isn't like Dragon Age: Inquisition, where I couldn't play full screen on a laptop.

Getting a similar crash, but not actually a crash according to event viewer. Gave the files a review and am currently redownloading about 4 gigs. Will report back with findings in about 20m

Speef22 just pm'ed me and instructed me to start the game in window mode and it worked. You can set the screen to your native resolution too.

Same issue.

Win 8 enterprise 64

AMD 7900 series - fully up to date

Play, get to 'Please stand by' screen, plays for about 2 seconds, then crashes to desktop.

Tried all different settings and resolutions, windowed, not windowed, low, med, high - same result.

Installed Beta via steam - same results.

Got it working. The fix for me was to install amd's beta driver's.

Good luck

How'd you install the beta from Steam? It's asking me for a code...

I got the same problem:

my GPU may be slightly too old, but i think the game should start anyway.

GTX 260 here.

Nothing worked so far, when i click "play" windows tells me that fallout has stopped working.

Launcher also tells me that my GPU cant be recognized.

iam trying to install an older nvidia driver.

I got the same problem on geforce 840M. And the response I get from one of administrators in this topic (http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1545116-fallout-4-wont-work/ ) was " Sodel - Unfortunately your GPU doesn't meet minimum specs, and this may cause problems launching the game."
