How to resolve RailroadBoS conflict? (spoiler)

I was reading the notes on the Railroad faction and it says if you work too deeply with the Brotherhood of Steele, it has a negative response from the Railroad.

But if I skip the Brotherhood of Steele content, I'd be missing out on a fair amount of gameplay and possibly some much needed allies/support.

Is there a way to resolve their conflict so I can work with both?

Basically, I want to stop the Brotherhood pursuing their agenda that is putting them at odds with the Railroad.

I'm assuming the Brotherhood actively targeting Synths for annihilation is what the Railroad is objecting to, given they have a history of protecting Synths who liberated themselves from the Institute's control.

yes but on the other side to that the brotherhood of steel has awesome weapons and armor so I like them no mater how racist they are against synths

being nice dosn't help you survive, a giant laser gun does

Create a new character, buff them with some cheats, and go explore the path.

Or, use the console and edit it so that the brotherhood is neutral or allied with the Railroad. Idk what the cheat is exactly or what the ID faction codes are, but those will come with time.

You are assuming way too much depth into Bethesda's story telling abilities to assume there are such options for your character.

The Brotherhood of Steel is a feudalist authoritarian military dictatorship which is genocidal against Synths, Ghouls, and Supermutants.

Yeah, they should be fine together.

There is a precedent for getting conflicting groups to work together for the greater good.

In Fallout New Vegas. the Brotherhood of Steel resented the NCR for defeating them at Helios One, the Great Khans were still angry at the NCR for the Bitter Springs incident and the Boomers wanted to be completely isolated from everyone.

With a lot of Diplomacy, I convinced all of these groups to ally with the NCR to fight the Legion.

So I don't think it would be unreasonable to expect that I couldn't do the same thing again with the Railroad and this chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel.

Especially when they are both under threat from the Institute.

There would be no logical reason to keep up petty squabbles when there is another enemy to fight, especially one that dangerous.

Sometimes you must choose sides. Choose the side you want and in a future play though choose the other one. Reasons to play more than once.

In new Vegas they we're only minor factions, you couldn't get the ncr to join with the legion or yes man.

In this game the BoS and the railroad are the major factions so I very much doubt you can get them to work together.

On the contrary, a capacity to max relationship with to organisations with entirely conflicting interests is something Bethesda would do, ala being Head Mage, Head Assassin, Head Thief, Head Guildmaster etc...

If referring to Skryim there is also no interaction between those factions. They don't start 'liking' each other, you just become Master of All. The closest Skyrim came to this is calling the truce in the civil war so you could kill the dragon, and that was for show only as it actually changed nothing in game.

At the moment, I'm leaning to just telling both sides if they can't play nice in the Commonwealth sandbox, to push off and leave me alone.

Given that they're both equally petty in requesting you to destroy whoever you do not choose, I think the wisest choice of action is to not choose either of them as allies.

I'm thinking of sticking with the Minutemen from now on, as far as I know, they're not interested in attacking potential allies.

Bethesda should have taken more clues from Fallout NV. Whether the 4 factions in FO 4 are major or not is irrelevant to me, i want the freedom to create the ending i like. I hope this step backwards will be removed by DLC′s or mods. It shouldn′t be too hard to implement. If i can remove those from control who are in the way of compromise, either by word or by force, having two factions with overlapping goals working together (if only locally and temporaily) would be only logical.

Probably will stick with the minutemen due to all other factions being warmongers and haters.
Institute are terminator fodder, reason for all the rogue synths from what I gather. (A synth gets threatened with a mindwipe for using a pc)
BoS was better in Fallout 3, they were trying to help wasteland rather than just take everything away by using the tech for good.
Railroad are essentially liars and sneaks and hate anyone that wants to harm a synth, haven't seen far enough to see how they feel about the synths that are monsters after being free from institute. But seem lesser evil of all the factions named above.
Lastly the minutemen were wiped and a clean slate starting with you and Preston (Mr Noble and Honorable) take its place, seems the most even footed and helping people, no hate from the faction except for those who do harm.
Would love if you could have them all ally but that seems way out of reach with how different all their views are except the minutemen.

Different characters for different factions/companions.

That's how I'm doing. I've got three waiting. One's a PI that's going to partner up with Valentine and join the RR (I hate them, but I'm curious enough to play through it). Another's a spec ops soldier that I'm going 100% Brotherhood might take Cait along if the she sticks around. Got another where I'm going all in with the Minutemen. Swapping between Piper and Codsworth on that one. I'm thinking about making an engineer and I'll go Institute with him and take Codsworth and Curie along.

The Railroad earned an amazing amount of my respect when I asked them for help in finding my son BEFORE revealing anything about it being related to either the Institute or Synths.

Their reaction?

"How can we help?"

They, it turns out, aren't one-issue voters.
