I also really like watching my character in VATS. I found it to be a lot of fun watching him take down groups of Raiders, etc.
I can't wait to see how VATS works in F4.
if the enemy is too fast or gets the drop on me ill use it just like how ive always done.
Depends on the character I create. If i play a character concept that isn't very well trained then i will use vats because i think this character would be dependant on the assistance and if i played a more martial character i'd use it less as this character would not view the 'need' to get help from the computer.
I'm hoping they improve the shooting mechanics, the gunplay felt kinda lifeless in Fallout 3. If they make it function on the level of a standard fps, I probably won't use VATS that much. I'll still use VATS though, I gotta spend those action points on something.
I prefer not to use it as I find it adds a challenge. However if they designed it more like The Witcher where time slows rather than stops, I'd consider using it.

I like to use VATS to scan for enemies and I especially like using VATS in civilized environments because I can easily filter out generic NPC's and named NPC's.

Would love to use both if they rework free-aim and VATS mechanics. I hope they separate the chance to hit calculation from VATS and free-aim. Always odd, particularly with mini-guns to see bullets curving to hit the target on calculated hits when free-aiming. Also hope VATS gets reworked with more tactical targeting options and better balance of AP costs for more difficult shots and/or burst weapons, I'd just like to make more of a concious decision of if and when to make use of VATS rather than the routine VATS + head shot most encounters.
