Godzilla-size monsters

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 7:09 pm

I think most of the players of the series are too young to remember how UFO-obsessed that era was. I remember having an argument with some of them over some potential Area 51 DLC, and how it shouldn't involve aliens. Crazy.

But no Godzilla thanks. A Deathclaw the size of a Super Mutant Behemoth, however....

Sure, why not. We can even give it huge teeth and call it Deathjaws. :hehe: That might be an Easter Egg I could live with

I think that the older deathclaws should be about as the large as the wasteland's creatures get.

Its just an old argument that some wont let go of because they are way to worked up over a Dlc that wasnt actually all that bad.

I don't mind ghosts in terms of supernatural atmosphere as we saw in the Metro series. That was really well done.

However, I do not want to see giant mutated creatures any larger then the SM behemoth. We already have aliens and a giant Lazer robot....oh, and a giant scorpion robot. No more.

It never worried me that much either, i thought it fit the way you do, i just played it as another part of the game, it never payed a major part in the whole storyline, it was an easter egg dlc basically, it was a bit of fun, but giant creatures no, i understand the whole atomic mutation thing, but theyve gone down the route of mutations, you dont need to add to it with Godzilla (all rights UPA/Sony) stomping across the world, and theyve already done Them, just not the giant tarantula and mantis.

You can't compare metro and fallout, those are 2 diffrent games.

They are both post apocaliptic yes but in terms of atmosphere and lore i think that metro is darker.

Fallout can be dark sometimes, but mostly it's just an alternative 1950's game with 50's music etc...

So i don't think that ghosts are a good idea.

Why do you guys not like aliens so much? I want to fight some but they probably won't fit in with a Boston setting. And for large monsters, now that we're in Massachusetts, maybe we can get lovecraftian horrors as enemies?

I thought Aliens were cool tbh. I don't undertsand the hate behind it I guess people will complain either way so whatever. Will totally be down for a godzilla sized monster though.

While I don't think we'll get any Cthulhu sized creatures it would be awesome to see some smaller Lovecraft inspired enemies.

I love aliens when they fit in with the lore and the setting like Halo. They absolutely do not fit in with Fallout and neither do godzilla sized monsters. The only reason they were in Fallout 3 is because Bethesda completely butchered the lore when they shoehorned everything from the classic Fallout games whether it made sense or not and whether it was meant as a joke or not. Just look at the Enclave, Supermutants, FEV, aliens, Behemoths, etc.

Behemoths might be the largest living organic monster in the wasteland. Who knows? Maybe there is a Mother Of All Bloatflies, a M.O.A.B

I wouldn't be adverse to a monstrous squid off the coast, or something similar.

How about have a really big thing as an end-game boss like FO1 and FO2 had (Master and Horrigan)? Not another pint-sized human nemesis like NV and FO3 had, both in main game and most of their DLC's. I think the only big boss was the giant robo-scorpion of Old World Bues.

I hope we do see some Super Mutant Behemoths again, maybe another Super Mutant one step up. Although hopefully not as big as the Mega Mutant thing in Rage.

This thread reminds me of Skyrim General before release where everyone was taking M'aiq the Liar too seriously (For example "OMG he mentioned dragons in Oblivion, he predicted Skyrim!")

I don't know about a godzilla sized monster but a monster a little larger than the behemoth might be entertaining as a one off. Maybe as the end boss to a quest involving a irradiated crater. Also, I liked the Zeta dlc, it was kept as a separate a light hearted non-canon experience and in no way ruined the base game for me.

What if it was just one creature? Like lurking out in the Boston shoreline. Maybe with a side quest or DLC they can implement some kind of bazooka to take it out with, but you would only encounter and battle it outside of the mainland.

They may not be godzilla sized but some of the concept art and images for the giant super mutants had them at several stories tall, and if FEV causes them to keep growing... then as long as they could survive they could get even bigger. Really cool pictures too, all over the wiki.
