Disk Write Error on steam

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 4:44 pm

So every time I attempt to install this on to my Samsung 840 EVO SSD, I get disk write errors even with over 100gb of free space. Why is this?

I created an account here to say I have the exact problem with the same drive!

Did you preload?

I am redownloading FO4 again to see if that works

It wont work, I've reinstalled 4 times in the past hour. yeah, I pre-loaded. All of my friends have installed to HDD. I created a thread on steam, everyone trying to install to an SSD had the same problem, then they re-installed to a HDD and it is now working.

I can't install to a HDD, as I run 3 large SSD's. So unless Bethesda fix whatever the problem is, I'm stuck with a game I can't play. Had the same problem with the Battleborn CTT recently too, never found a fix. Does not bode well.

Edit: Steam thread. http://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/496880503080067186/

The fix for this issue is to simply delete the 0 kb 'Fallout 4' file in your Steam folder, as per the Reddit thread referenced at the end of the Steam thread. Likely a permissions issue that causes the 'Disc Write Error'. Probably more of a Steam fix than it is the fault of Fallout 4.

Here's the Reddit link, for those who don't feel like going through the entire Steam thread to find it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/3s700u/getting_the_disk_write_error_on_windows_10_here/
