Cel shading for Fallout 4- yay or nay?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 7:35 pm

Borderlands originally wasn't meant to have cel shading, but it was added. How would you feel if Fallout 4 have those graphics?

NAY. I already like how Fallout 4 is looking so keep it unique and leave the cell shading to Borderlands.

No. I don't feel that it would really fit the style of the game. Fallout, while not without it's share of whimsy, is a mostly serious game with a generally darker toned setting. Cell shading, in my opinion, would pull it in a more silly direction.

No I don't want to look like Borderlands. I want Fallout to be it's own game not Bethesda's Borderlands.

Cell shading can be cool, for cartoonish/comic book games, but I don't care for it in FO.

Cell shading works for games like Wind Waker and Borderlands, I'm not meant to take them seriously and it's clearly cartoon level. Wind Waker is a child's cartoon whereas Borderlands is the "grown-up" cartoon. Both have silly moments and stuff. Now Fallout? No, even though the games have actual good moments of humor and silly events they also have stories and characters that are 100% serious and should be taken as such, cell shading ruins that quality.

The only developers I see that can do cell-shading and still be serious is Telltale and that's solely because their writing is so good.

NEIN!

No cel-shaded for Fallout 4. I would not take the game seriously if it looked like a cartoon/graphic novel (ie, The Walking Dead video games).

Borderlands isn't actually cell-shaded. It's amazing what the right textures and a simple black outline can do.

That said, I would not like Fallout 4 to be cell-shaded. The series may always have had cartoony moments but it's never been an actual cartoon. Let's keep it that way.

Nah, wouldn't fit a "main series game" of Fallout. In a spin-off, maybe. When done right, it is really cool effect, though.

I don't mind a stylized art style but definitely not to the extent of Borderlands.

RAGE's art style looked great and I think that would blend well with the FO universe - I wouldn't overdue it though. Fallout does not need to be cartoony.

-FYI, I love Borderlands but I don't that style would fit with Fallout. It would ruin Fallout for me, personally.

Guys they already filmed the announce trailer using the game engine and art assets. what you see is more or less what you get. If the game launches in 5 months or so the last thing they are going to want to do, even if the worldspace was HALF the size of the smallest map they have made to date is go back and re-art and relight it.

Seriously people stop reading random web story's about how some other game did something, latch onto some random Technospeak that you barely comprehend and then run round around panicking.

Personally I'd prefer the series to keep it's current style.

I wouldn't mind a spin off, like Tactics or Brotherhood, developed by another studio (pick Rocksteady because of reasons)....

But for a Bethesda/Obsidian/Numbered Title, I vote Nay good sir.
