G.E.C.K. and the Quality of Life

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 8:09 pm

I didn't play FO3 when it came out in 2008, so don't know how long it took before the GECK followed, but did see the Creation Kit come out long after Skyrim. I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to quality-of-life mods and don't know if I can get through the FO4 vanilla. I'll jump in and do a few hours of play for a general review, but I see myself turning the game off until the GECK drops.

I need darker nights that require light sources, backpacks, and multiple companions, at least 2-3. I know you, Bethesda. I know you! You won't give us these things, because you're like the parent who doesn't want the kid to have TOO MUCH fun or our brains will explode. Besides, I want to get started on a major mod project. It's about time someone drop the bomb on my hometown: Fallout Music City. (You's all gonna die fools!) So I'm eager for the GECK to drop ASAP!

If I remember correctly the Creation Kit for Skyrim came out around January and apparently Fallout 3's GECK came out in December. Fallout 4's GECK is going to take a couple months.

Part of me wishes I had waited to play Skyrim with the quality of life mods. A few things bugged me through the vanilla gameplay, but I admit the gameplay itself was fun. I can't predict 100%. FO4 might lure me in and keep me to the end. It's just that I'm spoiled rotten in a few things. I'd like some future modders to drop the bomb on their hometowns. A FO3 mod about Gary, Indiana was interesting to play. I'd like more of those.

This is correct. Not just the Construction Set but also, on a second disc, the art assets. And Oblivion's Construction Set was released even earlier than that. It came out a day or two before that game was released.

Skyrim creation kit was delayed because they wanted the steam workshop integration. I did not play Fallout 3 from launch so I don't know how late it was.

I have a feeling the FO4 geCK will come out much quicker this time round. We recently had an update for the Skyrim CK integrating the new workshop file size and file type limits. Should just be a case of sticking a new name on it then shipping out

I forgot about Morrowind's CK, and would love to see a sooner-than-later Steam Workshop for FO4. Make it happen, Bethesda! Which of the divines do I need to gift?

It was the same for GECK for FO3 and NV. If I remember correctly Oblivion too. It's understandable that Bethesda wants us to play the game first before we mod the hell out of it. :fallout:
