Steam crashes when installing?

I am freaking out. As soon as Steam starts, it attempts to resume installing Fallout 4 only to crash totally. It's stuck at around 57%. I've tried deleted the downloaded files, re-downloading, deleting the ClientRegistry.blob file... it's one thing for Fallout 4 not to work, but when it locks me out of all other games, there is a problem.

How much free space do you have on the install drive (for Fallout 4)?

Have you had any luck yet? I try to install and once it gets to 18.9 gb/24.0 it stops downloading from steam. steam then crashes. tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried deleting .blob and steam.dll, tried deleting downloads folder and still nothing.

No luck yet, tried rebooting and I'm at 44% now. We'll see how this game. I've heard of game-breaking bugs, but Steam-breaking? This is ridiculous.

It's always crashing at the same file size point so it has to be a file in particular. Wish there was a way to find out what the conflict is.

Hopefully I can find a friend with the game and just copy the files over.

There's a thread on Steam about transferring the data, my last hope.

Fixed, for anyone else with the problem there is the chance the pre-load files are bugged. Go to Drive:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps and delete downloading and depotcache files. Restart steam. Fallout 4 is now downloading from 0% and will finish.
