Beta release to public, why?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 6:19 pm

Why release a game which is showing obvious beta markers of problems.

The community is screaming left and right about errors and problems, and the game hasn't even been out for a day yet.

Why release a game that has problems which would be a very obvious to pick out in a beta filter?

This only gives people very much headaches and frustration, and its bad PR and rep for Bethesda.

This is nothing new with Bethesda...it will all be sorted out in a week or two.

This also is the wrong sub-thread for your post.

Get used to it - BSG works this way. You can blame them but that doesn't change anything.

Funny how people claim "beta" and scream because they happen to have a problem yet the game sells millions of copies and the majority of people do not have said problem.

People need to get some perspective and realize that Bethesda is no different than any other developer as far as testing and releasing their games. EA has been stated to have the largest test facilities with over 1000 PCs with different configurations but even they cannot prevent all problems on all possible systems. In other words, it isn't "beta" but rather something with a minority of specific systems.

It's also called "complex systems functionality" where problems occur simply due to the complex interactions of such systems.

There is no need for people to accuse BGS or any developer of lacking in some way or doing things deliberately to upset people. Obviously no developer does such a thing.

yeah I'm having a very basic quest problem on a very early quest. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary that would violate the parameters of the quest, yet it still broke.

The game is buggy as hell, deal with it.

Don't worry, the fan base managed to fix most of the bugs in Skyrim in no more than, say, six months.

Seriously, the key binding is hilariously broken if you want or need to change anything (left handers, ESDF players, etc.). That's *really* basic design, and you know it was reported in testing.

It's sad I fell for the preorder scam, but at least I didn't pay full price.
