The most horrible, absolutely atrocious bug I've ever encoun

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 3:17 pm

I am literally invincible. I cannot die. The game now thinks I'm an essential NPC apparently, and so when my health goes to 0, it then goes back to full health. I'd probably restart but I'm too far in, so now when it happens I just reload my game to be fair, like I did die. It's still absolutely terrible and needs to be fixed ASAP. I really hope that Bethesda does not wait on this one, because it's just very bad.

It happened apparently during the Confidence Man quest where, when saving a certain character in that quest, it fools the console to making me invincible. Nor could I finish the quest because two certain enemies are invincible. BETHESDA, PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP, DO NOT WAIT TIL THE FIRST DLC FOR A PATCH.

While I'm sympathetic to your plight, I can't help thinking that a lot of people would find that really useful. If you can work out what caused it and how to replicate it, I'm sure a lot of people would be grateful if you could post the cheat in the Cheats, Hints & Spoilers forum. :)

Thank you Gstaff. I fixed it by reverting back to a save 4 hours before I started the quest and it helped. Luckily I didn't lose a lot more progress.

I would, but it's simply a matter of chance. Apparently a very small amount are affected by this. You'd just have to rely on that very small chance for it to happen.

Thanks for your concern, it's at least a bit calming, but please, make sure this gets fixed soon, because this bug totally ruined my 20 hours gameplay! :(

I had a similar issue, but I haven't attempted the Confidence Man mission yet. My game will switch back and forth between invincibility and normal-ish. If I fast travel things will be normal for a while, then not long after it gets all wonky. When Im invincible the only weapon that does damage to enemies is a sword, door no longer open, but I can walk right through them. Not sure about locked ones, i just noticed it at Sanctuary Hills and E. Boston High.

Funny thing is, I can shoot a radroach in the face with a missile launcher when I'm invincible and it does no damage, whip out the sword and kill it with one hit.

You are investigating this issue for one player but not the massive game-breaking End of the Line quest bug that has been posted here on several threads?
