Dogmeat disappeared but it still said I had him as a companion, so I swapped him out and sent him back to sanctuary. Now I can't find him anywhere, checked all the doghouses and everything. Even tried the bell even tho that doesn't work. Please help.

I'm in the same boat. He disappeared after the scent tracking Kellog quest for me, but the game seemingly still considered him to be my companion...I picked up Codsworth as a companion and went through the prompts to send dogmeat to the Red Rocket station. He is still no where to be found...I've checked all locations that I've unlocked, and nothing. I really hope that there is a solution out there, cuz I'm pretty pissed at this point. I'm not too far in, but I don't want to restart from the last point that I had him. best of luck buddy

Did you look for him for his quest? He may be waiting for so he can smell the cigar.

UPDATE: I found him...There was a turret at fort hagen that I neglected to take out that had him pinned down...poor guy. You may want to check to see if you've got a similar situation going on. Hope this helps!

So I lost dogmeat as well, but not until after that mission. I tracked down Kellogg with Dogmeat, then went back to talk to Nick. I ended up taking Nick on as a companion and sent Dogmeat back to sanctuary. Haven't been able to find him since, and I really would like him back.

me too lol.. i swapped him for codsworth as my companion, on the same day saw him at dog house... after quite some run, decided to get him back...and he's no where to be found... not even at doghouse

just a suggestion but I hear he usually pops back up at the red rocket gas station where you first find him you could check there.
