Issue with Minimum PC Requirements

Hi! I have an issue with the minimum system requirements on pc. It states "Radeon HD 7870". I have a Radeon HD 7770 and which is a whole graphics card step down from the HD 7870, and when I run the game and it detects my specs and says I can run it on Medium with 16xAA. I don't understand why since my graphics card is so much lower than the "Minimum" requirements I can run the game so well with 60fps. This issue almost deterred me from buying the game cause I just figured I couldn't run it. So I'm really just trying to understand why the minimum requirements aren't really the minimum requirements. Thanks!

In short that's because there's more to computing power than GPU. They have to hedge their bets on both CPU and GPU because you can probably get away with one noticeably below minimum if the other makes up for it.

Developers don't have the time or other resources to test every configuration. The hardware requirements are best estimate of a 'playable' setup. Occasionally, they are wrong. Judging by the minimum requirements as a Geforce 550 Ti, I believe Bethesda fudged it. The Radeon 7770 and Geforce 550 Ti are fairly close in performance. In fact the 7770 bests the 550 Ti. The only thing the Radeon does poorly in is Directx 11 synthetic benchmarking (3dmark 11).

Edit: Hopefully you have a 2GB version, otherwise you might experience texture dropouts.
