molerat corpse too heavy? help!

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 1:16 am

I am only about 5 hours in to the game, but have started setting up Red Rocket as my home base. It is coming along great, but I have a problem: a molerat corpse is lying in my blue tiled walkway (near the cash register area), and I can't get rid of it!

I was able to pick up all the other dead molerats on the property and toss them into the brush, but this one tells me it is too heavy. I took all the meat/teeth out, I tried transfering a random item to it and then taking that random item back, I tried dumping my junk in the workbench in case it was strength-related and I just had too much stuff on me (I'm not super-buff, but I do have 5 strength with my army fatigues on), I tried walking into it hoping I could kick it out the door at least, and no luck. I'm assuming this is a bug (my first one) since none of the other mole rats gave me any trouble.

I know this is not super-critical, I can just walk around it (or maybe put something on top of it, haven't tried that yet because the walkway is so narrow...maybe a rug or something), it's just ugly and messing up my cool new home.

Any tips, or am I just stuck with this guy? I play on Xbox so I can't use any sort of console command to delete it.

I had the same thing happen, except the heavyweight molerat ended up on my workstation in the garage. Nothing worked, but eventually it DID go away after I was gone for several days.

I'm concerned as well. Sanctuary was attacked by two or three Rad Scorpions and I can't move the corpses, which are now laying in the street. It's unsightly and I'm not sure they'll disappear. Doe anyone know how long they'll be there?

What is your strength? If I remember correctly from fallout 3 I couldn't move super mutants with one character but on another with a much higher strength I could.

If it doesn't go away from the game cleaning up after itself you could try raising strength a few points.

I had the same concern at Red Rocket, but the one heavy mole rat (and the pile of other ones in the bushes) disappeared after a few in-game days.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like it will just go away if I am patient.

On an unrelated note, after spending about 20 minutes last night just trying to figure out how to put doors on Red Rocket (and giving up), I found a YouTube video that showed me that it already has doors...inside the walls/doorframe! Sliding ones! Who knew? And how did I not see that, I point my little cursor at EVERYTHING to see if I can interact with it. Apparently I need to be more thorough (or Bethesda could have put a more obvious button or switch on the wall next to the doors, or left one of the doors closed so we would need to open it and then could see that it goes into the wall, or something)! I don't like to hate on Bethesda like some, it is a very detailed game and they can't think of everything, but I know I am not the only one who missed this basic mechanism.

I've had no such luck...it's been several in-game days (I've lost track, but I'd say it has probably been at least 4 or 5 in-game days) and my little friend is still just laying there. I think it must be a glitch, because other people have mentioned that the corpses in their game disappear eventually. I guess I'm stuck with it!

You have to leave the RR and go far far away and stay far far away for a few days. Eh, No, I don't know exactly how far but I'd guess at least Lexington. I went to The area around Covenant and did quests and random exploration for nearly a week, and when I got back the mole rat was gone.

Ohhh yeah that's probably my issue, I've been out to the next settlement (tenpines? Or something like that), and to Concord but those must not have been far enough. Mostly I've just been working on sanctuary...but I'm about to leave and start actually questing instead of farming and building furniture, so hopefully that will do the trick.

I can confirm that molerats in RR will disappear eventually.
