Nvidia GTX 950M Problem

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 1:43 am

When I start the game, it goes to black. The launcher works just fine, but when i launch the launcher, it recommends low settings. When I disabled my intel 4600 internal graphics card, it didn't register my GTX 950M when i started up the launcher. It seems like Nvidia didn't optimize the 950M with the new update this morning or Fallout 4 doesn't recognize my 950M. I also updated the graphics driver before I initially launched the game.

xSPECSx- Intel Quad-Core i7-4270HQ, [email protected], 8GB Ram, Nvidia GTX 950M, Win 8.1

Bethesda, please assist. I'm not mad, I'm just ready.

Have you tried starting the game on windowed mode?
I (and many others) have a black screen like you when starting fullscreen mode, but it launches when starting in windowed mode (which is bad to play with).
I have a gtx 850m maxwell.

This is a very common problem with dual GPU setups in laptops. You need to go into Nvidia Control Panel and force the game to use the GTX950M there. Also, you probably need to re enable the integrated graphics - earlier iterations of Nvidia Optimus (the GPU switcher) used the integrated graphics for pre-processing tasks and that may still be the case.
