they stated that the couple that you create will make a baby that resembles them both. will the baby be the player?

No, you play as one of the parents. We don't know what role the child will play, if any.

Was stated in presentation that one of the couple would be the player character. Would seem like a waste to kill off the kid in the first 20 minutes if its a mix of the two characters, so it may survive somehow.

nope, you play as either the mother or the father, 200 years later.

I think it's just for realism... I mean... it would look strange if you make both parents... black with blond hair. Why should the baby white with black hair? It's just for the atmosphere I think,

I don't think the child plays one. You emerge from the vault as the sole survivor.

Tons of things could have happened in the 200 years you were asleep.

Yes but we don't know the context of why. What events happened within the vault up until you escape as the sole survivor.

Also Bethesda have pulled this whole thing before. Remember in FO3 when apparently no one had even left the vault only for it to turn out to be a false claim? No reason why this whole Lone Survivor thing isn't a false claim either that will be discovered upon playing through the main quest

The baby is DEFINITELY alive. No Story-teller would let this chance pass by. It is possible that the child left the vault earlier and you meet your descendants... or that it left just before you and you find out that the big bad is actually your kid. Actually, I won't be surprised at all if the founder and leader of the Commonwealth, or whoever the big bad is, ends up being your son.

We don't know how it survived, but then again... we don't know why we are the sole survivor either.

Plus the baby might have survived and turned ghoul or SM.

hmmmmm....I wouldn't be surprised if the lil'brat survived. I think if they'd pull something along the lines of "Baby couldn't be cryo'd so was raised by the vault dwellers that had to be alive to make sure everything was working blah blah blah"

But I hope if that's the case it's not some hokey storyline and might just be a side quest/story.

111 wakes up 200 years after the bombs fell, so if the kid is still alive, he/she would have to be a Ghoul.

I could see the villain being a descendant of 111. Would make for an awkward reunion. :P

I really, REALLY hope you survive through cryogenic freezing or some life support thing, and NOT that you're an Android modelled off the prologue couple in some dumb plot twist.

"That's not true! That's impossible!"

"Your tone and inflection suggests you are bored to tears and are not amazed/horrified at this discovery. Also, you're so...young!!"

"Well it's only been done a million times before, kiddo. And no, technically I'm older than you. By about two centuries."
