PC sixuality in Fallout 4

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 10:10 pm

Just because it doesn't matter to you, doesn't mean it doesn't matter to anyone else. While they have every right to design the game how they want, we as people also have the right to question and criticise those decisions. You can cover your ears if you want but don't think you can cover someone's mouth.

We can't know for sure, but design sensebilities and the E3 demo lead us towards no. It's possible that it hasn't yet been added, or wasn't in the E3 build and the mirror menu that what we could glean. Depends if Bethesda thought of letting us design two characters of the same six when they were also thinking "press Y to switch between the mother and the father".

Considering that you're the sole survivor climbing out of 111, as stated by Bethesda, I doubt there'll be room for much "romance". I see two ways this could have happened, either all stasis pods were destroyed except yours or some odd experiment/accident occurred which lead to everyone dying including your wife/husband and kid... then you put yourself into stasis or were put there by someone else. I doubt that there will be much room for six in the game other than what we've seen in previous title(s).

I hope so. Although I do trust them, I do hope they comment so we can settle this once and for all

It is not about player freedom except in the broadest sense. If it was about player freedom, that is what the title would say, and player character sixuality would only be one of many subjects being discussed.

If this thread was about player freedom some of the things we would be discussing would be:

Why am I always forced to play some 6'2" hulking giant? Why can't I be a 3'11" action hero?

Why am I always forced to play some wet behind the ears snot nosed kid? Just once I would like to play some crusty old fart that has seen enough of the world to know that maybe honking off that deathclaw while armed with a pen and a brick might not be the best of ideas.

Why am I always forced to play a human:? Just once I would like to play as an intelligent radroach.

There are all kinds of "player freedom" subjects. Those are just some of the subjects. And yes, "Why can't I determine my character's sixual orientation?" is one of them. BUT it is only ONE of them.

This thread isn't about "player freedom" it is about ONE aspect of it.

Nah, it really doesn't matter. Can't you bring yourself to play a straight character?

Nothing's stopping your character from finding his/her true self after the apocalypse, either. Hah.

Who cares? It's Bethesda's story, it's their artistic vision. Why do people always have to shoehorn something the developers obviously didn't include for any plethora of rhetorical and story-based reasons?

They are quite noisy and good at making it look like there are a lot more of them than there really are. The day people figure that out and ignore them will be a glorious one indeed.

And how does that effect what I can "play". Leaving the vault I can play any sort of character i want: good, bad, cannibal, caravan nomad traveller, Bob the Builder, Legion spy etc.

The same can be said for Skyrim or NV. I don't want to be a prisoner, I want my character to be a goody-two-shoes with no criminal record. I don't want my character to be a courier, the only thing he would transport is bag full of body's for Caesar.

"Play what you want within the parameters of the game's narrative."

The PC could be bisixual anyway. His wife had a pretty sharp jawline.

Actually your character reason for being caught with the rebels in Skyrim is just wrong place, wrong time. Not that you did anything wrong. As for NV I think your character is suppose to be unaware of the Legion before getting into Vegas since they haven been seen in years. Granted it's a bet stupid we don't know about the NCR.

This has gone on long enough.

Make the PC sixuality whatever you want. It does not matter to anyone else, it's a single player game. No need to get all worked up over the decision or what someone else chooses to do.

This is close enough to 200 posts to lock it.
