Partner and baby details

So you can select your partner's appearance and through them your child's appearance. I will be curious to see if I put in characters that look like myself and my partner if the baby will look anything like my actual son... lol. I am putting in my bet now that the child plays a role in the game, either they are an advlt because they emerged a bit earlier then you (from however you were frozen) or they are dead and their legacy plays a role in the post-apocalyptic world. It would be a bit weird if you can put effort into creating two characters that have an impact on the appearance of a third yet only one out of the 3 appears beyond the opening.

Also do you get to pick your partner's name or the name of your child or just your name?

From what I gather, you choose which of the spouse you want to play as and then, when you talk to the Vault-Tech guy, you pick out a name for your PC. I don't think you can name the other spouse.

From what we saw, I believe it was only whichever six you chose you got to name. The other might draw from a random pool of voiced names.

I don't believe we know for sure yet though

I'd assume they'd be important, or there's not much point letting you customize both of them.

I think it's because the baby is supposed to look like both of the parents so we're literally being encouraged to customize both the mom AND the dad, even though we can only play as one of them.

That baby must be really important to the plotline if the customization is that detailed.

But here's the thing, the war was 200 years ago. If the spouse and baby survived the blast, they would've died of old age by the time you got out of Vault 111. Unless they, too, were frozen and released a bit earlier than you. Or they're ghouls (which would really ruin the point of customizing the other spouse then...) or they're both dead.

Maybe I'm just focusing too much attention to the fact that we can customize both parents? After all, we get to play as one of them, so of course we customize them both so we can choose.
