Has anyone launched fo4 on linux

I would not think it would be this difficult since elder scrolls online and other gamesas games work perfectly, I have tried launching it for like 8 hours now with wine and other third party applications and it keeps crashing soon as i push play.

The crash log has a lot of errors with the game, I have already tried on a VM and i can't even get past the driver install stuff.

I have attempted to dualboot and it has failed due to all the crap ios files on the web, I don't really want to spend another 50$ trying to activate windows for 1 game, Got this game the first minute the doors opened and now it's nearly 2 days past with out playing.

gamesas support takes like 48 hours to reply and everytime they do reply it's about looking at common questions or some pointless reply that does not help at all, I am really hoping someone has launched it with linux and can help me with this crisis!

I can understand if there is no option but to purchase windows, Still seems like a joke that every other second gen game works 100%.

Thanks guys!

I have given up on Microsoft as a PC OS, as I will not touch WIn8 / Win10 or any future version if that's the direction they are going in. So, I have not purchased Fallout4, but as far as I know, the game uses DX11 / D3D11. At the moment, Wine does not support those APIs.

Back at E3 in June, CodeWeavers, who produce a commercial version of Wine, and contribute their changes back to the Wine project did say they were adding D3D11 support. Since August, the newest releases of Wine have had some early D3D11 support added, but it's not finished yet, and is not likely to be before next year.

If Fallout 4 gives you the option to use a DX9 renderer instead of DX11, that should work, and I think DX10 also works. Failing that, you will either have to give in and buy Windows, or wait for however many months it takes for D3D11 support to be added to Wine. Sorry you didn't know this before buying.
