Skyrim mods for Xbox One?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 2:29 am

So at the Microsoft press conference at e3, Todd Howard announced that mods that are made for Fallout 4 for the PC will be able to be played for the Xbox One which is amazing news. Phil Spencer also announced that the Xbox will be backwards compatible. So I kind of put one and two together and thought, since I will be able to play skyrim for Xbox one, will we be able to also play the mods that were made for it on the PC? From the graphic mods to weapons and quests? It just sounds like it will be done. Be nice if anyone from Bethesda can shed some light for this topic.

This is something we're working on specifically for Fallout 4.

Can we possibly see this in the future? I'd love to play skyrim non-vanilla. Always did but never had a PC strong enough.

I'd say it's unlikely. Skyrim isn't so much being ported the the One, it's being emulated. So, it would make it a lot tougher to make it compatible for mods. More than making it compatible than if it was an actual port.

Xenon Processor
4gb of DDR2

I mean I could just upgrade it by adding another processor a better video card and 16gb of DDR2 I guess.... I wanna play Skyrim on max settings. With the graphic mods.

Maybe.. and while I would have bought an xbox one to be able to mod my elder scrolls games that will be backwards compatable.. I will not buy it to be able to mod one game that to me does not look like it needs it..-tucks that money back in my purse.

Bit early to say that.

My guess is that this is an experiment. See how well it works to let mods transfer to the console.

Thing is people mod some weird stuff and not everything would be considered "appropriate" by Bethesda and/or MS.

It remains to be seen what rules apply, who does the overview etc. more.

I'm sure certain mods will be reviewed before making its way to the One. They wont just release all mods.

Also it's important to keep in mind that X1 has limited hardware resources. This will heavily limit what kind of mods can be used. The game alone already uses very large portion of resources, that doesn't leave much for mods. Things like "epic scale battles" are out of the question, they barely work even on PC.

It's good that console players can use mods too but if one wants to enjoy full freedom of modding (and it's responsibilities), the only choice is PC.

I'm really only caring about facial and body textures.. Oblivion ps3=skin disease, Skyrim = pixilated noses and chins galore..Was hoping for Morrowind too.. I would love to play it on my big tv.. Oh well.

@vexated: no.
