Insulted By Bethesda's Lack Of Communication-Is Anyone Else?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 12:00 am

I came on this forum to find a solution to a progression-stopping bug that crashes my PS4 version of Fallout 4 on the quest "Rockets' Red Glare." Instead, I created an account to create a post to sum up my feelings after seeing zero support by Bethesda on its official forums. Having read through pages upon pages of the community's issues (which is more than Bethesda has done thus far), I am insulted by Bethesda's lack of communication. It is entirely possible that some support staff are reading through our grievances, but the lack of communication is what makes me sick. I have supported this company over the last eight years, and defended it rhetorically when friends and acquaintances criticized it. And I find myself beginning to regret doing that.

So yes, this is a cry for attention. That is exactly what this is. You, Bethesda and especially every one of your support staff, are neglecting your fans. When horrid, game-breaking problems make it through development, you should be telling us you are working on a patch or that you are aware of the problem, instead of giving us nothing but silence and frustration and indignation.

If anyone else feels this way, and I know for a fact they do, please feel free to comment with your own feelings regarding the matter.

Best of luck to everyone, I'll be playing Depth until the time that Bethesda patches the game, as I have no intention to progress further only to have to reload a save later.

They released a statement yesterday with their intentions of releasing patches next week. A beta patch will go to Steam first, then the full patch will hit PC's, and consoles are last (as they always are).

Things take time. You have to remember that Bethesda is a Small team of around 100 people. The smaller the team the more time things take. To put that into some perspective.. Witcher 3 had around 250 people on their team, Assassins Creed over 900, GTAV over 1000..

You must get insulted very easily. Like vvvyxthorne said, its a fairly small team for such a huge game. They are doing very well.

I agree and I disagree with various points in this topic.

I absolutely get that it's a small team in relation to the size of the games they make. It's also a major holiday week in the US. I happen to love Beth's games more than any others in my thirty-plus years of gaming.

But come on: most of the staff probably has their faces buried in their phones and tablets and computers on breaks or lunch. It's 2015 and everyone is on social media. The executives aren't sitting in their offices coding until their fingers fall off. Todd Howard puts on the song and dance when it's time to reveal Beth games and promote them up until release. Some people are going through nigh unplayable issues, much like what happened with Skyrim on PS3. You mean to tell me that even one person at Beth in 2015 can't get on one of Beth's Twitter accounts for five minutes out of one day and tweet a few times to specifically acknowledge what the fans are experiencing, and what they're addressing? Leading up to the game they had no problem tweeting SPECIAL ads all day. Sure, they said a patch is in the works. Yet many people are still reporting issues that haven't been resolved by the patch. (I know it's a beta patch and not ultimately finalized.)

I haven't turned FO4 on again because I'm afraid to go anywhere and do anything. Once the game crashes, it zaps any excitement and desire to play it. It's already in my top 5 games of all time and it's all I want to play right now. Then we have to worry that our save file might go kaput, and we'll have to start over. A little transparency goes a long way. I'm not storming the gates and accusing Bethesda of ruining lives, but I'd at least like some details and acknowledgement in an age when you otherwise can't shut any company up on social media when things are right as rain.

I think most people do understand that it takes time and effort to get things fixed with a rather small team. But I think it would still be possible to show their face towards the community on here to at least have some kind of communication going on.

I kept seeing their twitter account sending people here, but I guess for all the post release issues, 1 community manager is hard to spot in the flood of problems, so it feels quite lonely.

I feel the same way. They should get off of their lazy asses and start communicating with people on here who are having trouble with the game.

I mean, why even bother putting up a forum if people can't find a solution to things?
