ok I'm leaving this thread because i keep commenting on peoples threads and this has been fixing bugs left and right for many people so i thought id share a tid bit of info.
first let me start off with a bit of exposition and some information every xbox one owner should know.
there is more than one way to shut down your console. the main 2 methods are sleep mode / standby mode. this is when you hold down the controller button to turn the xbox off or use your kinect to voice command your xbox off.
the second main way to shut off your xbox is called a hard reset. to do a hard reset you have to hold down the xbox power button ON THE CONSOLE for roughly 5 seconds wait a min. or 2 and then turn it back on via that same console button. (in case you're unaware the console does indeed have a button on the front of it its the glowing xbox emblem right on the front of the console.
now with that out of the way to fix more than half the bugs I've been seeing on the forum, you have to do a HARD RESET on the console. DO NOT use the controller or kinect it only puts it in sleep mode or standby status. this hard reset method can fix very common glitches such as:
- invisible weapons and clothing
- text boxes not appearing
- the very common lighting glitch where lights just don't illuminate
- NPC's getting stuck or disappearing
- most of the quest glitches (i don't want to name specific quests because the thread might get moved)
- the glitch where your new save file for another character wouldn't allow you to move
- dialoge not being able to be heard.
- the settlement glitch where you would be in the settlement and the stats would be lets say 50 then when you fast travel out of the settlement it'll go back to 0 for no reason.
- EDITED: i recently came across this glitch and this method fixed it once again, was trying to clear out a settlement and an enemy NPC was somehow morphed underground. i reset and the enemy was back above ground.
i hope this hard reset method helps solve a lot of the more common bugs. and i thought id just share this information because i was amazed at how many people didn't even know there was a power button on the console. idk maybe its just my age and I'm used to the N64 days where you had to get up to turn the game off idk but yea hope this helps some people out there.
