Well, as a comparison, going from the demo of Skyrim (Bleak Falls Barrow insanity) to release, did you feel like you were let down by what was actually offered?

Personally, TH couldn't even come close to Peter Molyneux's level of hype and snake-oilery. That dude could sell audio books to the deaf.

Snake-Oilery? I rather like that term. Quite appropriate. :) Can I borrow it?

One would almost think that Todd was in marketing, or some such nonsense. :D

Double major in Engineering and Finance, lol. TH just cut the fat and avoided padding his FO4 demonstration. He was just like, "here's the game, take a look."

Oh man Peter Molyneux is just on another level of [censored]tery. I think they both get abit too exited about the game they're making and maby share more than they should but oh man.

But no you're right when it comes to the demo, memory is a funny thing and it's easier to remember my own scepticism abou the game in general than what actually was presented, though maby it wasn't part of that presentation in particular but i remember some features beeing abit overplayed and some that just didn't make it into the game, like the ability to affect the economy by sabotaging lumbermills.

I guess i'm still feeling the burn of the Oblivion presentation haha, man that let me down. It made me very sceptical about Skyrim and in the end that worked out for me since i liked it alot more than i thought i would and this time around there's very little to be sceptical about. The settlement building thing is probably pretty bare bones and the jetpack is probably ony for a mission or two but that's it i guess.

At least with Fallout 3 and Skyrim everything they showed was in game.
Unlike what they said would be in game.

With all that said, bare in mind a couple things. Bethesda has a larger team and has taken more time to develop this game than Skyrim or Fallout 3. Iirc, patch 1.9 contained numerous fixes beyond anything previously done by Bethesda, which could be an indication of a shift in development practices.
