Still. Can't. Save.

Ok so here we are, almost a full day in to the launch, and there's still only one answer provided about the game saving issues. Turn off read-only and launch as admin. Alright, so read-only isn't able to be turned off. You can uncheck it, but when you check properties again, there's a box inside a box, turn that off, comes back. Do a little research, apparently that's no big deal.. alright, so moving on to launching as an admin.. Nope. Graphics detector is STILL trying to do it's thing every launch, even though it doesn't do anything because my graphical settings don't change.. and I STILL can't save my game.. The detector I can get over.. not being able to save a game? That's game breaking and making it not playable.

There's enough threads regarding this situation but I don't care, I'm starting my own anyways. Maybe if every person that has this issue starts their own thread, Bethesda will start noticing and acknowledge the problem.... Doubtful though as they haven't acknowledged anything else here.?

I had same problem with game save function. I resolved by checking my antivirus program to see if it was blocking the game exe file. It was. I changed the AV setting and can now save and load games. And the save game file is in my games fallout 4 game folder.

That's my issue, Fallout 4 isn't even writing a file to that folder when it downloads, even with this read-only crap fixed.

A folder cannot be read-only. The box inside a box means nothing. If you change it to a check, then all files inside the foider (sub-folders) will be read-only, otherwise its just a place holder.

If you go into the Security tab(right-click >> properties) is your account group have full access. If not, use the Edit button to modify permissions.

Do you have any special characters in your Windows user name? That was the problem for at least one person--the game may have trouble creating the folder if the My Documents path contains odd characters.

If this applies to you, try creating a new user account and run the game from it.
