I died in the game many hours into game play, after many saves. When I returned to the home page, the LOAD button was grayed out as if there was no saved game in the system. I restarted my XBOX One, but that didn't fix it. I started a new game, and it still won't let me save anything, which renders the game completely useless to me. Since it appears to be a problem with saving games, does this mean my original save is gone?

I'm considering a reinstallation of the game to try and fix the save problem, but I don't want to lose my original saved game, in the off chance that I can retrieve it again. I'm hoping it's buried somewhere in there waiting to be rescued.

Does anyone have suggestions, solutions, or relatable incidences?

Your games are automatically saved in the Cloud when they are saved in your console. I would suggest cleaning your persistent storage, deleting all local data, hard resetting your console and, while logged in with your profile, let the game sync game saves from the Cloud. It might not being back the most recent save, but it does bring back saves, if you can't load no matter what. But please make sure it's not just a weird sync issue, or that you weren't just offline momentarily, before doing the above. Hope it helps.
