Settlement Shipments

Can anyone please tell me where I can find shipments of Aluminum if they exist in game? I keep running out of it faster than I am finding it, but need the material to "upgrade" my current Power Armour Suits.

If none of the "surplus" type traders are selling it, then I believe you are out of luck. I don't think there are "shipments" of junk (aluminum or otherwise) to find. If I'm wrong (gods I hope I'm wrong) then somebody please set me straight... and tell us where to find said shipments!

Vendors sometimes have an item in the Junk category called 'Shipment of [Resource] - [Amount]' (for example, 'Shipment of Cotton - 50). They're pricey, but they give you an item that is automatically converted into the indicated amount of the indicated material the next time you activate a Workbench.

Unfortunately, I don't know where to get reliable instances of these. I will, however, note that you can tag Aluminum in your Pip-Boy. Go to the Junk tab, then press the button to switch to Component view while you have at least 1 Aluminum in the list, and anytime you come across something with Aluminum in it, a magnifying glass will appear next to the item's name.

Personally, I haven't had any issues with Aluminum, but I was forewarned by the Guide, and tag Aluminum, Fiberglass, Screws, Oil, and Adhesive as soon as I can. I'm therefore constantly picking up anything with Aluminum in it. Frankly, the only thing that gives me problems is Adhesive, and I've set up Sanctuary as a Corn farm so I can make Vegetable Starch whenever I need.

Well the problem is I already have it tagged, but its just finding them in the buildings and ruins...I find more plastic and wood than I do Aluminum or Steel. It's like the prewar was built using only plastic items. And as for buying them...this is no joke. I went from vendor to vendor in one day and bought all the items I could that contained aluminum. By the end of the day I had 6 aluminum and that was it. But it costs me like 11 aluminum to upgrade what i need too. Never thought finding that particular item would be that hard. And now that I am higher level I seem to be finding Fiberglass, Crystals, Fiber optics etc at an increasing rate over the lower essential items.

Also adhesives is one thing I have too much of. I have that tagged as well and believe me I pick up every junk item I find. My companions are just pack mules to me. I give them anything I need them to carry so I can grab more junk. It's not the lack of searching, its the lack of anything useful actually being there which is why in another thread as it's clear that the loot found in one person's game may not be the same as another persons, Bethesda should put in a feature that allows us to send our companions out on missions to find those elusive components.

And yes I also have the perk that highlights them in a green color. Not sure what the name of that was.

YES...I was just in Diamond City Market and at the junk dealer when I decided to see what Arturo had to offer ammo wise. As I was going through his ammo I accidently went to the junk section by accident. Glad I did. Huge Shipment of Aluminum (50)
