I'm thinking of doing a loner character my first playthrough. Feel out the world and factions and their angles. Then side with varying factions in later playthroughs to see what the haps are, there.
I hope that siding with factions, if included, builds off of what NV was doing, taking it a step further to have more immediate consequences. You could play all sides for far too long. So, factions to side with good. Immediate repercussions better.
In other words, the Enclave will be coming after you (if included in Fallout 4).
Someone on the forums here (or somewhere else) mentioned the "Minutemen" has a potential faction. The "new" footage Todd Howard showed at Xbox's E3 conference showed the PC helping a numbered group. The leader's appeal suggested that this will be one of the new factions that could be joined? Is their any Fallout lore on the "Minutemen"?
Normally I like the brotherhood, but I think there will be a moral dilemma that sort of makes the Brotherhood a gray area or possibly bad choice.
Again, there is no need to have a penalty unless the factions are actively opposed goal wise. Why would the fighters guild and the mages guild be opposed to eachother? They'd have different goals but not opposing ones.
It would depend entirely on what the factions want. If I don't like any of the factions' goals/methods, then I'd go it alone.
Like in New vegas you will probably come to an point where you have to choose side, instead of two neutral factions you get one friendly and one enemy.
This give you powerful friends and powerful enemies, the powerful enemies also have good loot.
For me it depends on the character I'm roleplaying. As for factions, I did not see BoS or Enclave in the trailers; aside from the power armor, but T-45d/ T-51b is pre-war tech. I did see the option to make your armor look like the old school FO2 Enclave armor.
You could see in the video at Bethesda's E3 conference, the BoS is there, and the huge ship crashing down to earth in flames, has the Brotherhood's emblem, and the name likely means it's Lyon's BoS from F3.
Oh okay, cool then. I wonder wish BoS it is, Lyons or Outcasts (West coast mentality)?
Wow! That's pretty neat. I'd like to see what became of Arthur. I wonder if he stuck to Elder Lyons ideals or the ideals of his forefathers, aka hoard as much pre-war tech as possible?
Well, my favorite Fallout faction are Followers of the Apocalypse, i empathize with NCR as well.
There won't be NCR in Fallout 4 and followers do not want power, so i have to decided to side or not to side with a Factions during the course of the game. If there will be Followers, i probably will side with a faction who are helping them.
If BoS is included i probably will oppose them, that is of course The Institute will not be even worse.
Going to kill both factions, and with my fists(unarmed).
Because of they got the better resources, it's likely just Lyon's BoS.
