I have a bit of info overload. Was it confirmed that everyone in the vault is dead or is this just an assumption?
I don't remember hearing anything specific to confirm this.

About what? The vault 111 ? We only know that our character is Sole Survivor, with the implication that he was somehow frozen. So we don't really know what is the situation.
Ahh, so perhaps everyone else is still in stasis.
I saw a 2 second clip of a few people in a Atrium of Vault just outside of the Overseers office. Was it 111? No idea.

I would guess every one is dead, or in a state of suspension with no hope of reversal . . .the latter I doubt though.
Todd said in the gameplay demo video, something to the effect of "The player emerges 200 years later, the sole survivor of Vault 111." Emphasis mine.
All the protagonists of Fallout games get a nickname they are referred to as:
FO1: The Vault Dweller
FO2: The Chosen One
FO3: The Lone Wanderer
FO4: The Sole Survivor <- This is what it seems everyone is referring to the protagonist in FO4 as. Though I think the baby also survives - you just don't know it.
EDIT:
The baby obviously survives and you'll meet your kid all grown up. This is the "plot twist" that I'm sure Bethesda things we can't see coming from a mile away.
Another possibility is that the baby grows up, lives a long life, and then dies of old age while we remain in stasis.
You know, the baby doesn't HAVE to wake up when you do. It could have been snatched by the Institute 20-30 years before you wake up. The Institute could have been using Vault 111 as their own personal refrigerator for test subjects, and you're the last.
This sounds pretty plausible to me, note that everyone assume that the test subjects are dead.
Good one, Sole Survivor, which reminds me of this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWxL3iB5b6E
One thing I did noticed is that dead scientist you "borrow" the Pipboy from seems to be on the Vault evaluator but if he managed to get down why didn't he go into the Vault with everyone else?
How did we know when he died? I don't think he is dead since 200 years without anybody taking his pipboy... And no body would lying around after 200 years.
I think it's more likely that he died shortly before you awoke.
