Getting the computer ready for F4...

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 1:16 pm

I have a i5 4670, 8 gigs of ram, and a gtx 660.

No one knows what the system requirements are, or even the recommended are. But we can always have a get theory on what's needed.

Based on what I have right now, I believe I can at "least" play it. But what I want is the basic 60 frames at 1080 with high quality. Just the base game, no mods with bigger textures, and no 4k.

The biggest thing would be a better graphics card; as the i5 should be good enough. The question is do I need more then 2GB of VRAM for the basic game? My first thought would to check the xbox one and ps4 to see how much vram they have; only to find out they have none and use basic hidden ram for the graphics. (Which may be just 2 GB of ram but not sure)

Because if it's just 2GB of vram needed (For the basic game and no graphic mods); then a 960 should work well.

I was also going to be buying a small SSD for games. At least for this one for a long time :P.

While watching Gopher Livestream yesterday he speculated that as long as you could play Skyrim with Mods and ENBs at pretty high FPS you should already be set for F4.

I have the 4gb version of the 770 and I think it makes a big difference compared to the 2GB VRAM version. Now I'm pretty certain you will be able to properly play the game and enjoy it but I'm also certain you will run into a few long term issues because the lack of enough VRAM, especially with bethesda games.

Now you can except a few hard fixes but if I were you I would spare for a gpu upgrad (maybe sli). CPU should be the least of your concern as far as I know since I don't except your gonna have bottleneck issues with your i5 since F04 will run on a upgraded creation engine.

You should be able to play the game in 1080p at no problem, and get very close to 60fps. Maybe even over. The Creation Engine is very flexible. You probably don't need to upgrade unless you are just looking for an excuse to.

Getting a second card and running SLI will do nothing for the OP's VRAM. VRAM does NOT stack in SLI mode.

I recently upgraded my computer (All but my gpu). I cheaped out on the motherboard because I was never interested in Sli at this time so I bought a motherboard with only one PCI-E slot so no sli for me . Been meaning to upgrade the gpu, but the games I have been playing do amazing with it already (mostly New Vegas.).

I don't really care for close to 60fps myself. So a little boost to keep it at 60 is all I really want.

Skyrim with lots of modded high quality textures, more models, and no ENB already puts me at around 45 fps.

So the question for myself is to grab a 960, or pay a bit more for 3.5 vram of the 970.

I'll be getting a entirely new computer sometime inbetween now and November. Ive upgraded my current computer a few times, mostly videocards, but I bought this computer in 2010 for New Vegas and its just become worn down since then. I am going completely overboard in the specs of course, but I don't really think im going to need that Geforce 970 to -run- the game, more -tear it apart-. And I think that SSD equipped money pit will to a admirable job of running at 60 frames in any situation, aswell as giving me a lot of power to work with for modding.
